I am just very glad that this 8.4.9 Linux version retains the partially complete WU state upon abnormal shutdown!
I used to lose the completed folding upon reboot, but now it picks right up where it left off.

Re: Estimated PPD inflation after crash
I also observed the huge inflated PPD after a Manjaro Linux system crash. WU was approximately 38% complete at crash. As the reboot resumed folding, the PPD steadily decreased as folding progressed until it normalized before finish. I figure some clock must have reset FAH start time internally, so u...

Re: GPU Disabled on Arch Linux (after Reboot)
Thanks again calxalot To AlterFalter101 ... the mainstream Linux packages tend to shy away from cutting edge, of course, since that is not their promise or appeal. Fedora and others will never try and keep up with latest features, and certainly not with Folding At Home. The AUR is for maintainers th...

Re: GPU Disabled on Arch Linux (after Reboot)
I had some trouble with FCole's Snap package for version 7 and believe I ended up building it myself from AUR. Without knowing your familiarity with Arch specifically, and at the risk of overwhelming you with information, if you have not already I would urge you to check out the following Arch refer...

Re: GPU Disabled on Arch Linux (after Reboot)
I have been folding on Manjaro for a number of years now, starting with AUR version you are running (fahcontrol 7.6.21) and updating to latest web-based control AUR version (foldingathome 8.4.9) early in 2024. I might suggest trying that update. Additionally, from time to time I would have a reboot ...

Re: <SOLVED> Sudden appetite for RAM?
Well! Downloaded the lastest Beta Bastet code and followed the ReadMe part about building the client. A little sudo in /usr/bin to copy and rename files, and just like that, v8.4.10 folding with about a 50% reduction in RAM use to 6.48G Now in my toolkit to try updated betas as released. Thanks again

Thank you very much for the advice, calxalot!
I have tip-toed around the edge of trying my hand at building from source for too long.

<SOLVED> Sudden appetite for RAM?
Greetings! Long time folder, now running v8.4.3 on Manjaro Linux Just in the past month or so, I have had Chromium browser suddenly abend as the system RAM was totally consumed. I do not recall this behaviour over the past years, just in the past few months. I have 16GiB installed, 15.5 usable. When...

Re: 8.4 Open Beta
The FAH-Client carried in the AUR fahcontrol package for Arch Linux has been displaying v8.4.3 for many months now.
AUR also reports it is out of date.

On Linux I can issue a bash alias to regulate GPU power levels:

The AUR package is called foldingathome and is 8.4.3 Installing in terminal finishes by echoing the systemctl commands to enable and start fah-cliient Running very well here. Glad to have the update because the 7 version package was badly out of date with broken links. https://aur.archlinux.org/pack...

In my experience folding with CPU steals a slight bit of GPU performance 5~10%
GPU utilizes 1 or 2 CPU cores for folding

Re: [Debian 12] Do I need to install CUDA separately?
Seems to me that the -dev and -toolkit are more for *programming* CUDA than running. Manjaro has a package "cuda" which did improve my folding over just the plain NVidia 550 driver. You can check the folding information log where right after downloading the work project you can see the Pla...
