Re: Regulating GeForce RTX 2060 Super Load

On Linux I can issue a bash alias to regulate GPU power levels:

alias Super200="sudo nvidia-smi -i 0 -pl 200"

The AUR package is called foldingathome and is 8.4.3 Installing in terminal finishes by echoing the systemctl commands to enable and start fah-cliient Running very well here. Glad to have the update because the 7 version package was badly out of date with broken links. https://aur.archlinux.org/pack...

Re: A complete beginner with a few questions

In my experience folding with CPU steals a slight bit of GPU performance 5~10%
GPU utilizes 1 or 2 CPU cores for folding

Re: [Debian 12] Do I need to install CUDA separately?

Seems to me that the -dev and -toolkit are more for *programming* CUDA than running. Manjaro has a package "cuda" which did improve my folding over just the plain NVidia 550 driver. You can check the folding information log where right after downloading the work project you can see the Pla...

Re: Best bang for the buck build?

Agree - great discussion and plenty of data packed for me to unravel. Linux Manjaro B550 AsRock motherboard, Ryzen 5950X with RTX 4070 Super and 4070 producing a combined 18-20,000 ppd. Checking the plain jane NVidia X-Server Settings shows each card running PCIe Gen4 at 98% GPU utilization and 2% P...

NEW Arch User Repository foldingathome

Just today downloaded a package update which showed a new maintainer has just updated FAH after a few years of sitting idle. Arch User Repository (AUR) FAH version "foldingathome" installation requiring uninstallation of 7.6.21 then reinstalling from AUR. Version called 8-4 and is monitore...

Relative performance between Linux flavors

Greetings ... I have an heritage machine running Manjaro and F@H version 7.6.21. Recently built a new machine to fold and wanted to try v8.3.18. Since this version is not yet available in the AUR I installed Mint strictly for ease of installation, using the .deb package listed through the Folding we...

Re: Ryzen 7840HS - another data point

Thanks for adding information to the mix, mmstick! I have yet to find a way to light off the 780M iGPU on my Beelink. I am running straight Arch Linux and have tried to install the ROCm driver with little success. The gpu still shows FAILED on FAHControl version 7.6.21. (Of course, the unit display ...

I consider this definitive; dig down to individual GPU pages will show Points Per Watt.

Here is snapshot of Conky while folding on the SER7 Top portion under RYZEN 7840 shows the watts and CPU cycles Bottom under PROCS shows the FahCore This unit has an obscure NSC/ITE chip that sensors-detect does not recognize and that there is no corresponding kernel module, so I take the power read...
