Re: Improving FAH reputation and reach, how?
Being but an humble folder myself, I have no particular insight into what the "team" may be doing about this, but a summary can easily be found at PubMed: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36945779/ , which says in part: Review Biophys J . 2023 Jul 25;122(14):2852-2863. doi: 10.1016/j.bpj.20...

Re: Win - send FINISH command at certain time
Thanks. I have the same need to control folding time (off peak electricity 10pm-7am) and currently use 7.6.21 and Lar Systems timer, but will presumably try this when/if they stop working.

Re: Experiences with W10 ESU Rollout?
After a week away and devices idle, I returned to find that Z802 and Z441 had offers of ESU enrollment, which I accepted, making 9 enrolled. I found my way around the endless loop on Z601 by switching from a local account to a windows personal account and bypassing the bizarre refusal to recognise m...

Re: Experiences with W10 ESU Rollout?
The Windows documentation on this particular free ESU enrollment is very variable and now I can't even re-find the link that told me about the specific conditions for this particular version. One condition was that that you had to be running 22H2 and latest updates thereof (latest meaning a date now...

Experiences with W10 ESU Rollout?
Two days ago I was working through my W10 devices doing the September updates when I was surprised to be offered free enrollment in the W10 Extended Support Updates program for some of them. But most did not get an offer, though they are all registered with one or the other of my MS accounts. This i...

Re: fah-client 8.4.9: HTTP_SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE ("No appropriate assignment")?
Interesting. First a quick check with https://www.etymonline.com/word/fungible , which tells me that a fungible things is "capable of being used in place of another ...". So it seems from the advice above that I can safely conclude that CPU and GPU WUs are non-fungible these days. Yet it w...

Re: fah-client 8.4.9: HTTP_SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE ("No appropriate assignment")?
My own perspective on the CPU/GPU business is that if there were types of modelling that actually NEEDED the fancier capabilities of CPU's and could not be done at all with GPUs, then I'd be happy to run those CPU WUs alongside the GPU ones. But, since it seems that they are just alternatives to do ...

Re: 12129 is cruel to small GPUs
So the short answer is that :We are using a plethora of various GPUs for GPU project PPD adjustment, and loads of different CPUs for CPU project PPD adjustment
"the "Points" documentation at https://foldingathome.org/faq/points/ needs to be updated

Re: 12129 is cruel to small GPUs (and probably i5-750s too)
by muziqaz » Sun Sep 07, 2025 9:05 am Point system has not been corrupted or nerfed :D Here is what's happening: nVidia stopped supporting and improving their CUDA libraries for older generation cards. New drivers new performance improvements to newer cards. This negatively impacts old cards. This ...

Re: 12129 is cruel to small GPUs
What won't be cured must be endured, I suppose, and this too shall pass (eventually). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qybUFnY7Y8w But it's annoying because right now I am trying to adjust the operating hours for some new boxes to stay within a planned electricity cost for folding, and these atypical...

Re: How do I fold with Two or more GPUs in One box under Windows 11?
Update for NVIDIA Drivers 580.97 and 581.15 Further to previous testing, I found more or less by accident that a HP Z4G4 I was getting ready for someone else was quite happy to run a GTX1080 and a Quadro K1200 together under W10 , and just out of curiosity I added a P1000 and it still worked, and t...

Re: 12129 is cruel to small GPUs
Well, I thought I had avoided them with the 7.6.21 option "max-packet-size" SMALL, which is supposedly applied to the size of the output file, and was designed for use back in the day when folk used dial-up. It seemed to work for 18251, but the 12129 output files are around 250MB and thus ...

Re: How do I fold with Two GPUs in One box under Windows 11?
Update: The same approach works with three GPUs, at least under W10. I bought another Z4G4 on Ebay with the intention of moving my three RTX 2060s from Z440s (ie Z4 G3 devices, not acceptable to W11). Snag is that the Ebay description said it had the usual 750W PSU, but it came with the 465W one th...

Re: not interested in PFAS (per poly fluorid alcyles)
My local (New South Wales) Department of Health has just issued a report on the topic, after some months of meetings of an expert committee. Their proceedings and conclusions can be seen at: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/environment/Pages/pfas-expert-panel.aspx . In the light of their conclusions ab...
