Re: Trouble with vav2x.fah.temple.edu
by Joe_H » Sat May 24, 2025 1:27 am I am less than 300 miles from Temple University, and my ping still is about 30 ms. I would need an IP in Sydney that would respond to a ping to get an idea of a "normal" ping for that distance. I am within 3 Km of Sydney University: Pinging sydney.edu.a...

Re: Project 18251 very low PPD on RTX 2060s
Well, so far the little 2060 that could seems to be OK despite the coast of NSW being hit by record-breaking rain bombs this week. http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR711.loop.shtml

Re: Project 18251 very low PPD on RTX 2060s
This is not about Project 18251, but certainly about RTX 2060s. I have 3 of them, purchased on eBay 3 years ago solely for Folding, at an average cost of AU$400 each. All are installed in HP Z440s. Since then, they have all run without any problems, mostly for 11 hours/day, with temperature controls...

Re: I think I have a bad one, WU 18244 Core 0x26
There are other projects from this family, eg 18251 that (for unknown reasons) run very slowly (~1/3 usual PPD) on TU106 version RTX 2060, also RTX 1660 and 1660 Super. The only solution seems to be to avoid them. See viewtopic.php?t=42221 for more

Re: How to restructure multiple users from V7 to V8
logic board clock battery I assume that (in my case) we are talking about the CRC2032 button batteries that power the Real Time Clocks in Zx00s. It's true that the puzzling results were from antique Zx00 devices that I tend to run only once a month or so for for Windows and other updates these days...

Re: How to restructure multiple users from V7 to V8
Please make sure to pause any folding before system restart to not lose any work Well, I suppose the 80% complete WU I just dumped by mistake might help me remember this feature of W10 folding, but if it happens again I guess I'll have to put a post-it warning on the screen. So I'm afraid th...

Re: How to restructure multiple users from V7 to V8
All is good with 8.4.9 Finish and Pause, so far as I can tell after more systematic testing. :egeek: :D I can't quite work out what Smilies to use because I should perhaps be embarrassed too, but I'm not. It was certainly the case previously that Machines I expected to have "finished WU and sto...

Re: How to restructure multiple users from V7 to V8
When I ask the Multiverse about the notoriously horrible status of Windows time, it leads me into the usual swamp that can be summarised as "sometimes". So I am not going there. All the devices are synching via Windows, except the air-gapped one that I plan to use after the collapse of cyb...

Re: How to restructure multiple users from V7 to V8
When I ask the multiverse - but excuse me a mo, my little red Nokia 2660 is telling me it is 8PM, and thus the time when electricity is semi-cheap at "shoulder" rates for 2 hours followed by 9 hours of "off peak" followed by 7 more hours of "shoulder", and so it is time...

Re: How to restructure multiple users from V7 to V8
I'm pretty sure that all my Windows devices are set to synchronize automatically with the time server time.windows.com , but I'll check next time I visit the attic. There have also been issues if the system clocks are off. If it’s far off, web control may not connect to servers. Though synchronicity...

Re: How to restructure multiple users from V7 to V8
Thanks for the info that 8.4.9 "Finish" should behave in the same way as 7.6.21 "Finish and Stop". All I can offer in reply is that it didn't on a device (Z604-CPU only ) left running overnight to finish and stop a WU that was running with ETA 3am, as per a note I left on it. But...
