Re: Should I upgrade/update my software?

we plan to let the servers be hammered by V7 users trying to download something which is not working on that version :D
You mean like the ECB and Bazball 2.0?

Re: Should I upgrade/update my software?

eventually there will be some new projects or folding cores that the v7 client will not be able to handle I will likely be staying with the 7.6.21 version +LARS browser extension on most of my devices because version 8.4.9 doesn't easily let me control their operating times to avoid the more expens...

Re: Set folding to run at specific hours/days

This is one of a number of problems/ challenges with 8.4.9 that has led me to stay with 7.6.21 and use the scheduler in the Lar Systems app - see https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?p=370490#p370490. Time of use electricity charging is increasingly common, and "Folding while I am using the c...

Re: Folding efficiency improvements - reducing carbon footprint

Just not seeing anybody talking about this, ... My personal view is just that the benefits of Fah to the world ecosystem - not just the potential health benefits of the science, but the visible demonstration of the possibility of civil international collaboration by ordinary folk - well, OK, maybe ...

Re: Experiences with W10 ESU Rollout?

Update: All ESU eligible devices have received and digested December ESU updates without problems. The three HP Z440 workstations have continued to Fold (Fah 7.6.21) with their RTX 2060s throughout; I also tested two HP Z600 workstations with Fah 8.4.9 and both CPU and GPU folding and they were fine...

Why did "Gilthanis" briefly found my team?

This is odd. This evening when I went to update my Excel folding records I saw an odd message for Team "appepi" (243941), which (unless I am imagining things) was founded by "appepi". Team was founded by Gilthanis and has earned 4,123,617,610 points by contributing 30,940 work un...

Re: New Gpu Stats

 Yes, a Radeon 7600 should certainly generate heaps more PPD than a Quadro T400. I happened to be up in the attic starting the Asus Turbo RTX 2060 in Z443 on its evening run (8pm - 7am), and I logged onto the forum while here. The RTX 2060 picked up a WU from project 18262, which is poorly re...

Re: New Gpu Stats

It is a while since I ran a trial of the Version 8 Folding app, because I decided to stay with version 7.6.21 because it better suits the way I run things. Thus it would be better for someone who used version 8 to explain this. But if I remember rightly, then referring to the image you posted, the s...

Re: New Gpu Stats

if the actual grpahics card gets number "194.000" and the newer card gets higher number Other things being equal, more PPD is better. If that "194.000" means 194 thousand Points Per day (PPD) that has been estimated and reported by the FaH app for a particular job (WU) while it ...

Re: New Gpu Stats

Is there a way to track the performance of the GPU vis-a-vis the currently in use? ... (GPU is W6400) I know nothing about ATI/AMD GPU's later than the ATI Firepro V3700 of 2008 that I bought on eBay in a batch of 8 cheap GPUs in 2016 and which died just the other day. However, at Techpowerup the e...

another shooting star Back there in March last year, team "Hewlett Packard Enterprise" jumped from a respectable but unremarkable ~150-200 MP/month to 2.74 Bn, 5.15 Bn, 6.0 Bn. and 7.1 Bn (June 24). Thereafter it dropped to 3.9Bn, 2.4Bn, 2.1 Bn, (September 24) and then reverted to 132M, 1...

Being but an humble folder myself, I have no particular insight into what the "team" may be doing about this, but a summary can easily be found at PubMed: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36945779/ , which says in part: Review Biophys J . 2023 Jul 25;122(14):2852-2863. doi: 10.1016/j.bpj.20...

Re: Win - send FINISH command at certain time

Thanks. I have the same need to control folding time (off peak electricity 10pm-7am) and currently use 7.6.21 and Lar Systems timer, but will presumably try this when/if they stop working.
