Any ideas what's going on?
I see these messages for few days already. Sometimes machines cannot get an assignment for hour or even more.
It's definitely getting worse.

That's weird.
I tried 3 generations of Nvidia cards and all struggling to get regular WUs (RTX 2080, GTX 1080Ti and GTX1660 Super).
Looks like activation of beta WU's is the solution for now.
But for some reason RTX 2080 not getting any beta WUs at all and still struggling to get anything. Is there any limitations for RTX 2080 on beta units ? Is it possible to add RTX 2080 to the list of cards for current beta WUs (12495, 12497 from vav18.fah.temple.edu) ?

No idea why your 2080 and 1080Ti would not be getting WU's. However, my similar devices have no problem. The table below shows the number of points each collected last night. The first three "users" are HP Z440s with RTX2060s running 7.6.21 under W10 with ESU, while the three Z4G4s below have GTX 1080s (2) and a GTX 1070, and are running 7.6.21 under W11. They all run GPUs only, and get work as soon as they fire up each evening and run until they finish whatever they started while the electricity is cheapest, using the LAR system chrome extension to schedule working times.

Only 2080 in Linux struggling to get WUs under latest client.
Your 2060 is a different story. Also Windows 10/11 is a different story. And your client is a different story. So your system actually is not similar.
Many WUs has restrictions on GPUs, OS, etc. Here is the example of official release notes for latest projects 12495, 12497:

Projects 12495 and 12497 are now released to FAH!
........
Be aware: there are some restrictions on GPU species and operating system ([OS!=Win32 OS!=Win64]).

According to LAR website previously running project 12494 has a lot of records of use 2060 but there are no records of use 2080. So even cards from the same generation might be different for FAH and not getting same WUs.
One more example: according to Project 12495 release notes you cannot get this project WUs under Windows [OS!=Win32 OS!=Win64].

Yes, these projects are restricted to nVidia species <= 7. Your 2080 is species 8.
