Re: fah-client 8.4.9: HTTP_SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE ("No appropriate assignment")?
If I suspect that my machine is subjectively slow due to FAH, I simply pause the CPU WU. So far it seems that there must be something else going on, because pausing that WU doesn't make any difference. On my main rig running Linux, I find that the only thing that really gets tripped up is my integr...

Re: fah-client 8.4.9: HTTP_SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE ("No appropriate assignment")?
I ran a folding rig in my bedroom for a number of winters to keep it warm too. Figured if I'm going to burn electricity to keep warm, might as well do something productive with it. The wife liked the heat, but got tired of the noise, so that ended. I fold CPU units exclusively on 10 boxes, and while...

Re: No folding work?
Seeing a mix of projects across my 10 clients now. Not quite as tasty points wise, and they take longer to run, but science is getting done now and they are still way better than those 1922x projects. Sure beats looking at half my clients floundering around doing nothing. Thanks for prodding the rig...

Re: No folding work?
My 10 CPU clients are struggling to get work for the last couple days. All are quad core or better up to 16 cores.

Re: Change in BA requirements
The PG hasn't changed much, if at all since I started folding in 2008. This is pretty much a rehash of the discussion over instituting a qrb bonus to manipulate human behavior using points. Quick history lesson...the a2 cores ran the choice 1920 point units at that time. You got more pph running 2 u...

Re: Gain Control of Team
Lol! If the name of the team constitutes advertising, then 90% of all teams require renaming. Rallying around a product, platform, OS, hobby, website, magazine, blog, person, or cause is half the reason why people join a team in the first place. Honestly if its not vulgar (and not cheating like FTL)...

Re: 171.64.65.56 ???
This server is a pile. Has been for a long time. Should be re-purposed as a space heater or a door stop. The PG has also historically had issues providing it with enough work. Best advice, is get off this server. Upgrade to v7 for access to other servers if your hardware/OS meets the minimum spec, a...

Re: Poll: Stand-alone client for your OS? Yes/no/unsure
If you pick apart the mac installer, you can run the console version of v7 right now. Throw all the pieces into a folder anywhere you please, and run it from the command line just like v6. Have to write your config file from scratch tho which sucks...no prompting for all the values like v6 did. Have...

Re: 171.64.65.54
This server has never been known for its reliability. A working OS X v7 client would allow everyone to get off of it, or an updated v6 core at the least would allow for other server options...

Re: How to become a world class folder?
HP folded with an entire cloud server farm, many millions of dollars worth of hardware i'd guess, for two months, and didn't claim the top spot. The current top single user is folding on a bonafide supercomputer, and has been doing so for quite some time. A core 2 duo is peanuts these days for point...
