"Irreducible ControlFlow detected" (fixed by reinstall)

I just received three WUs, all from the same project (13428), that failed within a minute or two of launch:

Each of these WUs threw a "Irreducible ControlFlow Detected" error and were returned as FAULTY (below is an example from the first one, the other two were substantially the same apart from the WUs and timestamps).

After the third problematic WU, I was dealt a WU from a different project and it appears to be proceeding without issue. I'm curious to find out if anyone else has experienced this issue/what may have caused it/how to fix it.

I have not seen this error before. I'll pass it on to the team that supports OpenMM and see what they say.

What GPU and Windows version was this? Have other GPU work units run successfully?

Sorry it took so long to get back to you guys... I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling the F@h client and that appears to have done the trick. I'll let you know if I see this issue in the future.

Would it be possible for you to post the first 100 lines of your log file so we can see what hardware you were trying to fold on? While it's nice that your issue has been resolved, we would still like to know a bit more in case there's an edge case or something else that we can fix :)

BTW, what AMD Driver version do you have installed and did you download it from AMD's site or use Windows Update?

It's running driver version 20.11.2 and I downloaded it directly from AMD's site. It's interesting to note that before I reinstalled F@h, I tried updating the driver (it was previously running an earlier version, I forget which one) to see if that would fix the problem (it didn't).

The machine saw numerous reboots (with no apparent change) between when I updated the drivers and when I reinstalled the client.

It looks like the same error popped up again earlier today. The big difference is that this time, after rejecting one WU, it downloaded another one, and this second WU seems to be processing normally (~3.5% as of this writing).

Thanks for reporting the error message midhart90. I have asked so let's see what happens. Could you please provide the first 100 lines of the log file which will show your system configuration and your client setup too?

This GPU does not support minimum requirements for folding. (Edit), the GPU is very old, and has not been supported with latest OpenCL patches for very long time. It might have huge amounts of bugs and broken functions which give you random errors in folding.
Best solution:
If you start fahcontrol, click on Configure>Slots and click on GPU slot and then click remove and save everything.
