Forum section for v8 Public Release
Now that v8.3.18 is no longer in beta but is the officially released version that new users are being told to install, would it be time to create a v8 Public Release section of the forum? (I personally had no idea that v8.3 was out of beta until a week or two ago; if there was an announcement I miss...

Re: 8.3.5 - Mac cannot get Windows status
This has been going on for several days, it wasn't just a momentary disconnect. But rebooting my Windows machine cleared it up. I don't know why I didn't think to try that. Thanks!

8.3.5 - Mac cannot get Windows status
I have two computers running 8.3.5, one Windows 11 and the other an M1 Mac (Sonoma 14.4.1); both machines running the current Firefox (125.0.2). Both computers are listed in Account Settings on both machines. Both machines are on the same LAN (192.168.0.x). The Windows computer can see the Mac &...

Re: 8.3.5 versus 7.6
Are there GPU cores for Apple Silicon now, or is Mac folding still CPU only?

Re: Updated build on web site?
OK, didn't realize 8.2 was Alpha. Guess I'll keep running 8.1.18 for now.

Updated build on web site?
Any chance we could get an updated beta installer on the web site? I see on GitHub that they're up to v8.2.4 but the web site still has 8.1.18 (which is about 7 months old now).

I always thought that goddess was "Bast", apparently either name is acceptable.

Re: The speed of cmp 90HX
When a work unit first starts folding, the ETA and PPD estimates can be wildly off. Personally I don't trust any estimates regarding time or points until the WU is at least 5% complete - at that point the estimates are based on how *your* computer is executing *that* specific work unit.

Re: My 4090 for humanity
If a WU is almost done & only has a few minutes left to go, letting the WU finish & then pausing before you start your game would let the WU finish faster & get you more points. If the WU isn't going to finish before you start gaming, though, pausing folding while you game isn't going to...

Re: Not getting bonuses
You can go back to the passkey site, re-enter the same user id & email that you used to create the passkey & it will send it to you again. IIRC, you can use the same passkey with different user ids - when I switched to folding for Curecoin for a couple years I don't recall getting a new pass...

Re: PPD half what it used to be
You have to successfully return at least 80% of your work units to get the bonus. If you suddenly stop getting it, I would first check to make sure your passkey is still correct, then I would take a look at your log files from the last few weeks to see if you suddenly started dumping a bunch of work...

Re: "Detected clock skew" messages on Mac desktop
Under Display settings, the Advanced button revealed an option for "Prevent automatic sleeping when the display is off"; I'll try enabling that. Nothing else that turned up when searching for "sleep" seemed relevant.

"Detected clock skew" messages on Mac desktop
Switched to v8 on my Mac Studio yesterday. Things seem to be working fine until after I went to bed - apparently the Mac started trying to go into sleep mode because folding slowed down to a crawl & I started getting clock skew messages as if it was going to sleep & waking up repeatedly. I c...

Re: HOWTO: Allow v8 Client Remote Control
Has the control & monitoring interface changed between v7 & v8? I tried adding my v8 client to the v7 Advanced Control on a different machine (making sure to use the new port number) but it's stuck on Updating. I suppose the fact that they're using different port numbers is a pretty strong h...

Re: CPU folding and 5900x
It sounds like Kebast hasn't set aside any CPU cores to manage the GPU, and that's going to affect GPU performance.bikeaddict wrote: ↑Sun Mar 05, 2023 8:34 pmA 4070 Ti should be showing PPD estimates in the 9-14M range, depending on WU. Maybe a little lower on Windows.
