SMP Frame times Linux vs Vista

Post by dschief »

Just brought a new box online
P5Q-Pro
Q9550
4 G ram

Brought up the windows Smp Client under Vista Home premium; and watched it take forever to slug through one Wu
frame times were right at 15 min. The Wu finished & uploaded ok.

I then swapped out the HDD. for one that has Fedora 8 x86_64;
Under linux, I'm running 2 SMP clients , And each one is showing 10 min frame times..

For you experts out there, is it reasonable that Linux can run 2 Clients faster than Vista can run 1?

Or did I mess up the vista install?

Just curious?

The linux client was running an A2 core (which Windows cannot run). The A2 WUs run much faster than the older A1 WUs.

I would also recommend running only one SMP client at a time, as that is how the Pande group prefers it be done.

I pray for a native linux gpu2 client so I can finally run SMP with a2 core and gpu client at the same time >.< right now the linux SMP clients get all the fun stuff.
