That is not correct. v8 works perfectly even if the main server is down and you cannot log in or link your computer. All you need to do is to go to FAH settings and enter your username and team number to fold for that team and under that username. This is exactly the same procedure which is required for v7 set up.
The only thing which has been broken through this weekend was the features which v7 never had

When something is broken, you can't say it works!

Ho, I forgot, something to say about WU not being available for V8 but only for V7?

Also working here too. Still seeing the wrong points/wu count though. Suppose we'll get there soon enough.

Back to folding now! :D

I never claimed that v8 is working perfectly to its full potential. I'm just correcting your false claim.
You are talking about many different things. I am talking about your statement that error 500 and login failure prevents you from contributing to science under your own nickname and team. They do not. v8 serves as a client same way as v7 without log in and ability to link your computer to your account. v7 never even had remote monitoring and accounts. You were never able to monitor your other clients from your mobile phone or computer in another city.
Here this is FAH settings when you cannot log into v8:

And this is account settings of fully logged in client:

Both screenshots show that you can enter your username and team number and just fold fine with and without logging into your account

You not being able to get work with v8 is server issue, not client issue

Hi,
In this case, perhaps some work needs to be done on the servers, and above all, we must not allow these problems, which I would describe as deplorable, to recur.
We all give our goodwill, time, and money to science.

@muziqaz I think you miss the point here.

There is no challenge, at least from my end, that an existing v8 fah-client working prior to the 500 HTTP_INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR, was still getting work during this bug, and was able to return work and get credit. And, when the certificate did not expire, they were still connected to a node and visible in webUI.

What everybody is saying here is that, for any linux (at least) INSTALL during the 500 HTTP_INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR period, the fah-client, after he création of it's fah id and RSA key, could not fetch any work due to the get / put situation explained earlier.

I think work on the servers was the cause of these hick ups ;) We have single dev, with limited time and resources to fix everything, and maintain everything, more so to cater to everyone's desires, wishes and ideas on how the client should work :)
I am certain that the dev does everything he can to maintain it. A lot of the infrastructure is dependent on 3rd party cloud services. Those would be impossible to develop and maintain in house.

When I talk about work on the servers, I am also referring to human resources. For a project like this, which has been going on for years, it is unfortunate to have only one developer.
I have no doubt that he is working hard.

That would be just one full time paid developer. There are several volunteers, they work on what they can. The GPU folding core development is done by the researchers. The researcher who originally did much of the CPU folding core work left the project some years ago. So for example when they wanted to update for a newer version of GROMACS about 8 years ago that was assigned to the developer and resulted in Core_A7. Otherwise mostly the developer takes care of server and client code and maintenance of the assignment servers.

Partly the lack of more paid developers comes down to how most grant funding in the US is restricted. Much of it can't be used to pay a software developer, they expect it to either be done by the researchers themselves or use off-the-shelf software. About 15 years ago they worked out how to carve out funding to pay for a developer, at first to get a cleaned up and documented client. That was the early versions of the v7 client.

The API errors do seem to have subsided for me. However I'm still not able to pause/finish folding on my machine. Anything I can attempt on my end to resolve this?

How does inability to pause/finish manifest to you?
You cannot find the button?
It is greyed out?
It does nothing when you click it?
