Add me to the pile. Decided to come back to FAH today, installed the new client on a Linux box and a Mac laptop. Managed to create an account and login, once, under Linux. Now on both machines I get this error

Code: Select all

Signing in failed

API error: TypeError: NetworkError when attempting to fetch resource.
Update: I can now login, but am still getting the same 500 errors, from the machine API specifically, trying to link machines to my account.

Hello

This message makes me think that folding might be possible without the fah account. This would explain why V7 is functional, since we fold without a fah account. We should test a new installation while being disconnected from our fah account.

The question is :
Does Joseph want the folding to end ?

OK the folding works with the machine is not linked but yet the api crashes 500 errors anyway. maybe a new contributor who is not aware of this fah account and who folds without even activating it at least once would perhaps see progress but I doubt it.

F@h V7 will work, since it's not using API and the /machine endpoint

F@h V8 works also, but , for new installation, you won't be able to monitor it with the F@h V8 web client and :
- if you're using a token to auto-configure it, it won't use it and you will fold as Anonymous
- if you're configuring everything (username, team, passkey, etc...) by hand -with lufah, for instance-, it will fold for your account.

Still, it's not a good look and will put off new contributors....

Hello Jwhy

To finish my feedback.
A machine already linked to the fah account before this 500 error issue has no problem. It's the addition of a new machine/instance that causes these errors.

Had hoped things would be fixed now but nope. I can actually log in now which is something I guess but in "Stats" it says I have only done 1 WU and have 78,000 points. It ranks me at 249,954 which is correct and if I visit my profile on the website it shows the correct info of 2,518,133 points, 43 WU, rank 249,954.

Also, my machine is still not linking to my account. Chain button in settings does nothing. :e(

Linking, and logging in has nothing to do with contribution to the project and point accountability. You can get points for your username and team without linking your computers or logging in to your account.
Simply click on the Settings icon (cog), enter your username and team number and fold happily ever after.
Broken v8 has the same functionality as working v7, where you have to configure each v7 client individually. Working v8 makes it infinitely easier, though, however when it breaks you are still contributing to science.

Dev reported that this should be fixed. Please try again and report if that is not the case. Probably best to clear browser cache and cookies beforehand
