Folding@home client crashed
Hi guys, I'm having an issue with the Folding@home client. As soon as I start the calculations, the program crashes. There is no error message. It just quits.
I'm using Windows 11 with the latest updates. I have the latest client version.
Can anyone help me?

Re: Folding@home client crashed
Fahlog does not show any crashes.
It shows the start of folding
It shows the start of folding

Re: Folding@home client crashed
The crash is not in the log...the logs ends randomly.
Re: Folding@home client crashed
Can you paste the last 20 or so lines from the files "science.log" and "md.log"? They contain the raw log output of the folding core and should be present in the folder C:\ProgramData\FAHClient\work\<bunch of characters>\01 and may contain information on the crash that was not picked up by the client.

Re: Folding@home client crashed
I would hope you can make an effort and show us the crash, otherwise we are troubleshooting perfectly working system from our point of view

Re: Folding@home client crashed
I think what OP is saying is that what he showed is all that there is, and the client just terminates without any error messages which is being interpreted as a crash because it was uncommanded.

Re: Folding@home client crashed
If the client terminates without anything in the logs, then it is unstable hardware. RAM is the biggest suspect.
If client crashes due to its own fault usually leaves some traces.
Event viewer would be another good place to see what happened to the client.

Re: Folding@home client crashed
In the Windows event log, under Windows logs, in the Application log, do you see any entries with event ID 1001 or 1002?
Event ID 1001 is an actual application crash, which will look something like this:
Fault bucket 2026874940613447519, type 5
Event Name: RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64
Response: Not available
Cab Id: 0
Problem signature:
P1: FAHClient.exe
P2: 0.0.0.0
P3: 10.0.26100.2.0.0
Event ID 1002 is an application hang, which will look something like this:
The program FAHClient.exe version x.x.x.x stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.
If you don't have either of those, then it is being shut down "gracefully," which probably means a missing file or dependency of some kind.

The current CPU can measure timings more accurately than the code in
GROMACS was configured to use. This might affect your simulation
speed as accurate timings are needed for load-balancing.
Please consider rebuilding GROMACS with the GMX_USE_RDTSCP=ON CMake option.

This run will default to '-update gpu' as requested by the GMX_FORCE_UPDATE_DEFAULT_GPU environment variable. GPU update with domain decomposition lacks substantial testing and should be used with caution.

Update task on the GPU was required, by the GMX_FORCE_UPDATE_DEFAULT_GPU environment variable, but the following condition(s) were not satisfied:
Either PME or short-ranged non-bonded interaction tasks must run on the GPU.
Compatible GPUs must have been found.
Only a CUDA build is supported.
Only the md integrator is supported.
Free energy perturbations are not supported.
The number of coupled constraints is higher than supported in the CUDA LINCS code.
Will use CPU version of update.

Re: Folding@home client crashed
So the core is aware that it is being terminated, but the client is not? Is what you posted before that (the client log) the last lines of the client log file, or the last lines that you see in the web interface?

Re: Folding@home client crashed
Then the Windows Event Log should be checked for FAHClient crashing or being aborted by another process. That is about the only other action that would cause the exits seen. The line:
indicates the core was no longer connected to FAHClient, the core will exit when that happens usually. Though in the past occasionally a core process would continue and only die when it reached point where it needed to communicate with the client.Lost lifeline PID 14628, exiting
Re: Folding@home client crashed
@joe_h nothing in the Windows Event Log, about a FAHClient crash.
@arisu last log from client log file.

Re: Folding@home client crashed
C:\ProgramData\Fah-client directory should contain all the historic logs. Redact any private info (like passkey, or ID), and paste it into pastebin or something

Re: Folding@home client crashed
Oh, I didn't even notice that it said lost lifeline! That means something is suddenly killing the client and not allowing it to terminate cleanly, and the core kills itself after realizing that the client (its parent and "lifeline") has disappeared. That explains why there is no log from the client.
Re: Folding@home client crashed
@muziqaz Sorry for the long wait. I've been really busy. Here's the log file.
