Okay, I found out how to build FAH locally, I had to switch to the latest tag - master branch is broken. Though, it still can't download a WU. Annoying. Can I diagnose the route maybe, or something? Increase verbosity? Increased it to 9 and it changed nothing.muziqaz wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 6:20 amIt shouldn't be referencing any unknown packages. Ubuntu is the easiest distro to fold on. For a single device deployment, I prefer manual set up rather than someone else's idea of the set up.
I see more container based issues with FAH than with normal manual deployment. It seems to defeat the purpose of the container as a concept

That can be forcefully ignored when installing, as it is not essential for the client, I believearisu wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 10:12 amMaybe polkitd-pkla? Re: Failed response: CONNECT on my home server
you need to probe your pc and the network it is connected to. Fah can only tell you so much, especially when other pcs of your connect fine.HyperWin wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 10:18 amOkay, I found out how to build FAH locally, I had to switch to the latest tag - master branch is broken. Are you sure the non containered client is showing same error as before?
What are you trying to fold on?
Re: Failed response: CONNECT on my home server
Yes, I'm sure that non-containered client that I built manually works the same way. Network works absolutely fine. I don't have any preferences on what to fold, it picked up some job, but I can't get more information on it in WebUI, due to it failing to download WU. For context: machine has Tailscale installed, and also I live in Russia.muziqaz wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 10:24 amyou need to probe your pc and the network it is connected to. Re: Failed response: CONNECT on my home server
Unfortunately it's marked as a hard dependency so it can't be easily forcefully ignored, at least not on Debian-based systems.muziqaz wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 10:21 amThat can be forcefully ignored when installing, as it is not essential for the client, I believearisu wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 10:12 amMaybe polkitd-pkla? I mean what hardware are you trying to fold on.HyperWin wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 10:31 amYes, I'm sure that non-containered client that I built manually works the same way. The way i test my farm is:
Is my internet working?
Is my internet working for that particular machine
Is there some sort of firewalls or other network gizmos preventing certain apps to connect to outside world
Is OS configured to allow those apps to connect to internet
Is fah configured correctly for client to see all the hardware I want to fold on.
Are all the drivers installed for fah to see the hardware I want to fold on.
Keep in mind that even with orange man in charge, Russia is still blacklisted by a lot of US based servers, and most of the FAH servers are in USA
Re: Failed response: CONNECT on my home server
Russia as a whole is blacklisted from using a lot of the US based servers??
Perhaps there should be a central, US-based collections/assignment server that then distributes the results to/from other servers, to allow people from all over the world to contribute to science.

Just found out that Fedora Server has firewalld running by default, disabled it - the same result.
The weird thing is that my main PC without VPN can download jobs without any problems - depends on the assignment server, i guess?.. Can it be a DNS problem maybe? Can i get more information about servers and network traffic?
Re: Failed response: CONNECT on my home server
Okay, looks like i found solution. It is indeed a regional restriction, and now i have to figure out which URLs should i add into the v2rayA routing list. I'll search for that, i guess, thanks for your help.muziqaz wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 12:01 pmI mean what hardware are you trying to fold on.HyperWin wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 10:31 amYes, I'm sure that non-containered client that I built manually works the same way. EDIT: figured it out - added foldingathome.com as a proxied domain, now it works flawlessly. YAAAAYY LETSGO
