more .... bad work units

I have 2 different WU's that are failing or 2 different logs. Any idea what's going on? Let me guess, its my software or computer?

The WU from 13448 failed on two other GPUs, but is successful on a fourth, so I find it likely that the WU is unstable and should be more limited in the GPUs it's assigned to. That is, unless the WU was assigned to three unstable machines in a row, which is unlikely though possible.

The failures on project 16959 are stranger, since this is a CPU project (core a08) and other folders are completing the same WU successfully. There does seem to be something seriously wrong with your hardware if this is happening. It could also be software related - like if an anti-virus software is automatically aborting the folding cores every time they start.

Correct, nothing is overclocked. All hardware is at default state. Except GPU which has increased fan and power. It's funny you guys always say something is wrong with my hardware but never have an issue with your software. Do you think you guys are the best programmers or what?

I'm not an expert myself either, just curious fellow folder.

What bugs me is that both CPU and GPU jobs are failing (as Gunnarre also pointed out), and they are failing immediately after the core is started. When a job fails to start, it's not very likely the cause is overheating hardware. If it'd be something causing hardware instability (overheating, overclocking, underclocking, underpowered PSU, whatever), I'd expect a job to fail later, not immediately on startup. With the complexity and wide variaty of GPU cards, I could imagine there are all kinds of edge cases that jobs may not run on specific graphics cards, but CPUs are way more standard. Since both CPU and GPU jobs fail (immediately) the compute hardware itself may not be the problem here.

So the question is, what is causing those jobs to fail immediately.
* Might be a corruption in the installation of the FAH software. You could try to reinstall (if you don't have username and passkey stored elsewhere, keep a copy of c:\ProgramData\FAHClient\config.xml for later reference.
* Might be that the WU data is corrupted on download. Might be something like a virus scanner, or something else in the download pipeline.
* Do you see failures on specific projects only, or is it more generic?

Please keep in mind that even if everything is standard and up to date and otherwise working as expected, you have a specific combination of OS, settings, drivers, virus scanners, hardware, internet router, etc etc. It may be that something very specific triggers a possible bug in the FAH software, or it may not be caused by FAH at all. The only remotely useful info in the logging is: FahCore returned: BAD_WORK_UNIT (114 = 0x72).

If i'd have access to the source code or developers (I don't - maybe someone who is reading this thread does) I'd ask what may be causing this error. That may give a hint on what to chase specifically.
In c:\ProgramData\FAHClient\work you can find sub directories per work unit. A subdir like that under normal circumstances contains a log file as well, with slightly more information than the general logs. Example:

While you are at it, check the memory also. Memtest is often used, though I have seldom had it find the real problem. If you use four sticks of memory, pull out two and use only slots 2 and 4.
