advanced control issue
I just had a windows update as well as the gpu update both install with no issues, however even though my system is still operating like normal the advanced control part when you open it constantly closes as its loading with no error messages. I cant even get in to copy any logs if there were any in there. I've already tried to unistall and ireinstall F@H but still have the same issue.

Re: advanced control issue
If folding is running (is it?) the logs should be written. Look at the two potential locations in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=108&t=36413
You should be able to find them using explorer and see the latest log and the previous 16 in the <logs> subdirectory. I suspect all the logs will be deleted if you reinstalled and selected delete data. Let us know what you found and if the client is actually running. Welcome to the Forum!

Re: advanced control issue
Let me know if this helps for the log file your looking for and yes luckly i was wise enough to even setup the remote management so worse case is i can control it in the advanced contol on that. I did however take notice that My gpu had a update a few hours ago and when it finished the update the system did do a restart and that's when the issue started.

Re: advanced control issue
I tried to do a full data wipe when I tried to reinstall F@H again but now i dont even have remote control from other system. I can'g get the advanced control for F@H to open at all when i try to it crashes
Re: advanced control issue
According to your log above, the client stores the data in C:\Users\Kevin\AppData\Roaming\FAHClient but FAH 7.6.21 actually should store it in C:\ProgramData\FAHClient
Maybe this is the source of the issue.
I would stop the client, uninstall incl. data, then check whether C:\Users\Kevin\AppData\Roaming\FAHClient and/or C:\ProgramData\FAHClient still exist and if yes delete them, then reinstall.

Re: advanced control issue
After looking around the lovely hidden files of dear old windows I managed to find the c:\ProgramData\FAHClient folder it turns out that path and the one in the log that I posted are both hidden folders go figure. I will try to purge all data and try to reinstall again. One other thing I did accidently find was if i ran tha FAHControl application manually a command window popped up watching it do its thing when it got to the part for the system tray is where it crashed and hung not sure if that helps at all but cant find a log or location a log file would be for that application.

I've now tried removing everything that had F@H in it anywhere in the system and still having the same issues with advanced control side of it. I wonder if the last update from Nvidia a few days ago is causing the issue and I'm not sure how to go about looking at that. Is there any type of diagonstic tool or something to be able to try to debug what its doing. If one of the admin or program developers need to remote in to see whats going on I'm all for it. Theres still so much research that needs to be done and having the remote management makes keeping tabs on everything so much easier.
One quick note my tower which is the system thats giving me the issue the Nvidia driver updated to Version: 457.30 Release date: 11/09/2020
Now my laptop which is also a Nvidia driver has not updated yet sorry for just noticing this Version: 457.09 Release date:10/29/2020
I hope that this little bit of information may shed some light on the problem for me I might be in a bit over my head on debugging without help

NEWS FLASH:::::::::
Attention All Nvidia Users
Do not do your driver update To Version 457.30 that was Released on 11/9/20 Keep using 457.09 from 10/29/20
This is what was causing the issue of the advanced control for F@H not to open and crash out. I was able to redownload the previous version from Nvidia's web site and roll back the GPU driver and can now access all of F@H without any issues except for me being a complete idiot and not writing a few things down when i had setup the remote management like ip# and such.
II'd like to thank the people that responded and tried to help sometimes you just need some more brain power added to sort a problem out.

Re: advanced control issue
Humm... glad that you figured it out and are back to folding. I am not sure why Nvidia drivers would be impacting a single application interface.

Re: advanced control issue
I took notice when my son went to play COD Cold War which came out at the same time as the driver update and he started having crashes with that as well. As messed up as it sound i took a look at our laptop which is also folding and noticed the driver had not been updated and everything including the crazy game was working on that. After a lot of banging my head on the wall the light shined on the driver being the only divrence between the two systyems. Of course now I'm having major brain block with the remote setup got it working on the tower with out a problem can see and control both but now for the life of me cant get the laptop to see both. Good old Murphy's Law i guess lol.

It may be that the main part of that upddate is geared to the rtx cards i'm running a RTX 280 TI I do know most of that update was geared to the newer cards that are out.robinson wrote: FWIF, I am using 457.30 without issue.

Re: advanced control issue
Kmiller922, I also noticed when looking through your log that you have checkpoints set at 3 minutes. Unless you have an unstable system or unreliable power, you might consider removing that and using the default 15 minute interval. That will reduce the load on your system, especially if you have spinning disks. Sometimes the problems with advanced control seeing or not seeing your systems can be attributed to the joys of windows networking. You may find it necessary to reboot your system(s) after some configuration changes before they are fully implemented.

Re: advanced control issue
I had reduced the checkpoints while trying to debug what was going on I have since rest them back, thanks for the reminder though it's normaly one of the things I tend to forget about resetting after I fix a issue.HendricksSA wrote:Kmiller922, I also noticed when looking through your log that you have checkpoints set at 3 minutes. Re: advanced control issue
I sometimes do something like that. The other thing I do is add "Pause-on-start (True)" to the slot I'm working on so I can undo something that I tried and it didn't work correctly. Then I'm only reminded when I reboot.Kmiller922 wrote:I had reduced the checkpoints while trying to debug what was going on I have since rest them back, thanks for the reminder though it's normal one of the things I tend to forget about resetting after I fix a issue.
