GPU stuck on waiting for idle and can't use instead of CPU

Post by synapsies »

I've been trying to put all the load from my CPU to my GPU recently. In the advanced control panel my GPU is supposedly waiting for idle even tough I don't want it to. Is there any way to disable that and let my gpu run whilst working?

Does your mouse/keyboard wake up the machine. It's the OS that decides if it's idle. FAH just checks with the OS.

Welcome to the F@H Forum synapsies,

In Advanced Control, set the Folding Power to Medium or Higher. Also, you can double check that on idle setting is disabled by right-clicking on the GPU Slot and ensuring that there's no tick next to On Idle.

As you asked here is the entirety of my logs. I'm not sure if it's 200 lines but hope I can help.

Re: GPU stuck on waiting for idle and can't use instead of C

Post by PantherX »

You have two options.

Option 1 - Change Folding Power
You can move your Folding Power from Light to Medium. That will cause:
CPU -> To fold 24/7 using 10 CPUs
GPU -> To fold 24/7

Option 2 - Tweak GPU Slot
Open up Advanced Control (AKA FAHControl) and right-click the GPU slot and untick the "On Idle" option. That will cause:
CPU -> To fold 24/7 using 4 CPUs
GPU -> To fold 24/7
