This is already in the list:

Code: Select all

0x10de:0x1f06:2:7:TU106 [GeForce RTX 2060 Super]
The actual problem is that there is a bug in the 7.6.9 installer, it does not download the GPUs.txt file and install it. Then it does not set up a GPU slot.

Use the FAH beta version as workaround https://foldingathome.org/beta/

Welcome to the F@H Forum mattwiese123,

If you're not keen to use a Beta software, here's a workaround for you:
Manually download the GPUs.txt file from here: https://apps.foldingathome.org/GPUs.txt (right-click save as GPUs.txt)
Exit the client
Copy the GPUs.txt file from the Downloads folder to C:\Users\matt\AppData\Roaming\FAHClient\
Reboot your system
Start up the client and ensure that you can see your GPU in the log file
Add a GPU slot from FAHControl -> Configure -> Slots tab -> Add -> GPU -> OK -> Save
ETA:
Now ↞ Very Soon ↔ Soon ↔ Soon-ish ↔ Not Soon ↠ End Of Time

Same problem here, and though replacing gpus.txt worked on the last rig I built this time it did nothing.

It doesn't pick up the gpu at all (GTX 1660 ti), and when I remove the cpu it just adds another one. Very frustrating!

On Windows, FAHControl is always expected to have a folding Slot, either CPU or GPU. If you don't have any folding Slots, it will automatically add a CPU Slot. You can add a CPU Slot and ensure that pause-on-start is true which means it will be there but will not be folding.

After rebooting your system, please post the log file so we can see what's happening :)

Rebooted, same situation, no gpu. But now there is another CPU, and it is folding.

I have five other rigs, all are folding, and none of them has a slot for CPU.

I've seen this same issue now on a youtube video, a new guy was very proud of the points his cpu was doing. He had no idea that gpu's were used, and if someone just installs the current software that's exactly the results they will get too.

I'm sorry to complain, but this is very frustrating. This new software simply does not work "out of the box", and each new installation has required a different fix, for me at least.

Code: Select all

Additional: I've tried changing gpu index to 0, and all it does is add yet another CPU! The gpu index does not affect gpu at all, it just keeps adding CPU slots - and they do start folding.

I now have FOUR cpu slots; all are running different projects, and the rig only has one cpu. Yet still no gpu slots,,, This software is now hopelessly buggy. Will there be a new release soon?

(Btw, I'm reasonably computer literate, and I've run over 35 million points in the last 7 days. But this has me totally baffled.)

Here's a screen shot. FOUR cpus running (rig only has one), different projects all, and no gpu.

Please note that for your system, a single CPU Slot with 6 CPUs or less should be sufficent. Running multiple CPU Slots isn't ideal.

When you go to add a new GPU Slot, did you select the GPU radio button? If you don't it will default to the CPU Slot.

Finally found the radio button you mention, that is one rotten interface!!! A tiny little gray circle that I have completely overlooked through six installations now, apparently I need to RTFM.

Thanks!

Glad to have helped you... I do think that the GUI can do with some TCL. The challenge is to ensure that it works across Windows/Linux/macOS without too much overhead.
