Please add AMD WX 2100

Post by noisycat05 »

This GPU is for more common workstations.
I have a workstation that I would like to be running the client on, and I think that this GPU would be pretty
fast and power efficient to run on a project like this. Thanks a lot!

Your GPU is recognized, and we don't get to see what happens next, the log ends.

I am not sure how we can help without more log. (don't be shy, give us enough to see the issue)

Or do you have two GPUs installed and just one shows up? The device ID given is not in the file yet - 1002 6995

Here is a more complete log. However, if you look, you can see that it does see that there is OpenCL Device 0, however there is no slot for that GPU. I already looked in the GPUs.txt and there was no entry.

(Sorry for not enough log, I followed the GPU submission instructions to the Letter.)

Did you add the entry to your local copy? Just wondering how the client picked up the description, normally if it does not find an entry that field will not be filled and it will not show "GPUs: 1". Not the only possibility.

I just attempted to add the GPU to the white list. However, It doesn't appear that it has worked. I tried to restart the client multiple times.

Right. Adding it the locally cached copy of GPUs.txt doesn't get it added to the server's copy ... which is where it has to be.

Hi, I have the same problem. I'm not a pro, so please be gentle. Other than my home PC, there are two servers gathering dust at work that I've been running full time on FAH for a year now.

One of the servers has an AMD Radeon Pro WX 2100 GPU in it.

Can you please tell me how to add the device ID, which is identical to previously mentioned GPU in this thread, to the 'server copy' ?

And where to find this ''server copy'?

Thank you!

As mentioned in prior responses, this card has already been added to the list. The client will add the card if its PCI device ID matches. The client also downloads an updated copy of the list about once a month, and any changes within it are applied the next time the client software is restarted or the system rebooted.

Your local copy of GPUs.txt is located in the F@h data directory, the same location as the log files which of course depends on whether you are running Linux or Windows.

You can download a current copy from here - https://apps.foldingathome.org/GPUs.txt. It will be at most a few hours different from what is used by the F@h servers. Someone like Bruce could add or change an entry, it takes a short time before the servers update.

As for the server copy, you do not have access to the F@h Assignment or Work Servers to get their "server copy".

If you delete the local cached copy and restart, a fresh copy will download.

Hi Raikins, Welcome to Folding@Home!

As Joe_H and bruce have hinted, your computer should download a server copy of GPUs.txt if it does not have a copy, or every month.

There are many computers called servers, but if you had a Folding@Home server, you would live in a major University.

If you think your computers are not folding as well as you would like, you can send us the first 200 lines of your computer's log, this should tell you how:
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=26036

I hope this helps!

It will not fold. The HD 7670 is based on a Terascale GPU chip, and does not support Double Precision (FP64) calculations. The minimum card in the HD 7000 series that can be used is the HD 7700 series and above.

Welcome to Folding@Home!

As Joe_H says, you card does not meet one of two prerequisites for folding, while it supports OpenCL 1.2, it does not support Double Precision Floating Point math (FP64)

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/a ... 1-gb.b1202

The card is nine years old, if it could fold, it might never finish before the deadline. It is about 1/2 as fast as a GT 1030, the minimum I know will finish before the deadlines.

Many Work Units would fit within 1 gig, memory is not the real problem. It lacks math skills.
