Project 9430

I got a Project 9430 this Morning on the GTX 970 and it turns out to run around 90 k PPD. Is it supposed to be running that bad on Maxwell as it is Core 18?

The Core 17 are running arround 300k PPD in comparison

This project just recently moved from beta to advanced. During beta testing some WU's were reported to run more slowly. More information on what WU's you see this with would be needed to see if there is a pattern.

Also, you should be running with updated video drivers. Which OS was this run on, and which version of the folding core?

I suspect the issue is from running v0.0.3 of core18.

For comparison, I just got my first core 18, proj 9430 WU on a GTX 750 Ti SC. So far, TPF is 13:55 with PPD of 73.2k.

System is an AMD E-350 APU running Debian Wheezy with kernel 3.2.0-4, Nvidia driver 346.35.

I just got two core 18 on two machines, both Win7 64-bit. These are the first for these machines, so the difference in the core versions is curious.

On a GTX 960 card with Version 0.0.4 of Core 18, I am getting 164 k PPD, which is a nice increase from the usual 156 kPPD on most Core 17's.
But on a GTX 750 Ti with Version 0.0.3 of Core 18, I am getting only 34 k PPD, down from the usual 66 k PPD on Core 17.

Neither card is overclocked by me or the factory to any significant degree. The driver on both cards is 352.86.

cxh posted - viewtopic.php?f=66&t=27651&p=276747#p276747 - that the settings have been just changed to require a core update when running WU's from this project. If you get another 9430 on your system with the 750ti, could you let us know if that does happen?

The Wu didn't finish properly and i had to restart . Because of that i can't say anything about the specific wu. Right now its back to Core 17 but if i get another one i will report it here.

System ist W7 + newest Graphic drivers.

JimF: feel free to dump the WU, if you'd like.

On second thought: bollix47 suggested that you could pause the WU, delete the core, and then start the WU again. This would give you almost immediate feedback as to whether the old core version was the culprit.

OK, I picked up another P9430, and got Version 0.0.4 of Core 18 this time.
My GTX 750 Ti is now getting 66.5 k PPD; very nice.

(I just hope that PG can develop a blood-pressure treatment before going through this process again.)

It's v0.0.4. AFAIK that's the first version for Linux...

@coredump4: I would suggest you update your Nvidia drivers to the latest version (or at least 349.12). My understanding is that this patch was made fairly recently and reliant upon the latest driver version at that time.

For a 970, it would appear that you are overclocking the card. (What works for games may not work for Folding; reduce the clock.)
