Hope they get the points server back online soon it would be nice to know how my new 780 is doing. I'm sure the server needs a physical reset nothing that can be fixed by remoting in.

I must admit, I didn't expect that "as many as we can" would be zero

I am very surprised if the statistics server at PG can not be reset from the remote. The problem is that they do not have the readiness for it. I can reboot all of my 6 servers from remote via IPMI from any location in the world, but I'm only an amateur who has folding as a hobby and cover the expenses private. I'm also pretty sure I have better uptime for my servers than Stanford can manage.

I think I'd expect a remote reset to be possible from (maybe only some) other computers on the Stanford network, I'd be mildly surprised if "remote" meant "over an internet link".
Altough is cause of worry not to be able to see the progress when contribuiting on Folding@home, the most important thing, at least for me, is that the work done these days will be not lost, anybody getting the points deserved by the contributions. It is early morning on Stanford, so I will wait until the last timed update in Kakao (around 10:00 PM) before shutting down the clients on my machines. I really expect the overhaul commented by Dr. Pande goes smoothly and we regain the stats, updated correctly.....

No need to shut the clients down (unless there's some other reason as well), it's extremely unlikely that you'll lose any points.
This sort of thing has happened before (and will probably happen again)- WUs are being returned properly and PG take great care not to lose their returned WUs, and if they don't go missing then nor will your points. They'll just be a bit later arriving than usual.
