Re: Not getting expected points [No passkey]
You need to have downloaded and returned 10 work units while maintaining an 80% success rate using your passkey before the bonus begins to apply:

It's a "mods only" search tool, yet I note that PantherX had to impersonate me in order to see the data. Why else would the result returned begin with "Hi Fadamor"? Regardless,7im wrote:You can look at 3rd party stats sites and see individual work units, several are linked from the toolbar at the top of the forum.
The specific info the Mods have is a Mods only search tool. No public access.
The two 3rd party stats sites listed at the top of the forum page only show point totals for each three-hour block that Stanford makes the data available. Individual WU totals nor the WU identifiers are available.

OK, then I'll wait until 10 have been submitted. (Amazing how all these requirements keep getting added.) Was other people using someone else's account really that big a deal to require all this additional B.S.? What, were they intentionally submitting corrupted WU's to sabotage the user's account?bollix47 wrote:You need to have downloaded and returned 10 work units while maintaining an 80% success rate using your passkey before the bonus begins to apply:

EDIT: As of right now (3:00 EST) according to the logs I have two successfully completed WUs since the passkey was added, so I have 8 more to go before bonus points are added. The third will be added in about 40 minutes and the fourth in about 12 1/2 hours. I'll check back in a couple of days to see if the 10-successful Wu limit has been reached. I haven't had a failed WU in a long time, so I expect to be 10 for 10 when the limit is finally reached.

Re: Not getting expected points [No passkey]
I don't see a credit for Project: 8900 (Run 298, Clone 4, Gen 79) yet. Sometimes it takes a bit longer for them to be credited. I'll check again later.
Apparently Fadamor has used several passkeys. Two are qualified, including the one with the most bonus WUs. You can use either one to check how many WUs are credited if you use the official stats. (The passkeys, themselves, are hidden in my query.)

Re: Not getting expected points [No passkey]
No, he did not impersonate you. All that is entered is the project(Run, Gen, Clone) and that is just the output of the database. He copied it straight off the screen and it does that for every WU looked up to indicate who submitted it. I recognize that it may look peculiar to an outside person but it is just they way it outputs.Fadamor wrote:It's a "mods only" search tool, yet I note that PantherX had to impersonate me in order to see the data. Re: Not getting expected points [No passkey]
??? Seriously, I've never used them to the best of my recollection. Granted, my recollection isn't as good as it used to be... even if I had one before I've long forgotten about it. It's moot, now, because I'm using the new one I got yesterday (and I'll probably forget about it by the time I'm required to install a new client again). If I've been using one in the past, then this reduction in awarded points and the 10-WU waiting period is my own fault and I apologize for my snippy-ness. I claim "old-fart" in my defense. (Not much of a defense, I agree)bruce wrote:I don't see a credit for Project: 8900 (Run 298, Clone 4, Gen 79) yet. Sometimes it takes a bit longer for them to be credited. I'll check again later.

Please note that another possibility is that someone else is using your username but with a different passkey. There isn't any concept of unique usernames in F@H, just unique passkeys (which are linked to the email).

Hi Fadamor (team 315),
Your WU (P8900 R298 C4 G79) was added to the stats database on 2014-01-22 13:02:59 for 6000 points of credit.

Re: Not getting expected points [No passkey]
Yeah, I've only got three WU's in under the new passkey right now, so it's going to be a couple of days before I'm eligible for anything other than base points.
Re: Not getting expected points [No passkey]
Confirmed: One of the passkeys does, in fact, report 3 successful completions.Fadamor wrote:Yeah, I've only got three WU's in under the new passkey right now, so it's going to be a couple of days before I'm eligible for anything other than base points.
Depending on your hardware and on whatelse might be running on your system, you might want to fold with the CPU slot, too. Many of the CPU projects will complete faster tha p8900, hence you'll get to 10 bonuse WUs quicker. What you do after that is up to you, though you should remember to use Right-click and "Finish" for any slot you intend to shut down and set pause-on-start = true to keep it from restarting later.

Re: Not getting expected points [No passkey]
You asked, in passing, what pass keys prevent. Either F@H or Seti@Home had the problem where one team member would do 99% of a WU, then all the team members would run the last 1% and turn in the WU. Pass keys help prevent that sort of ass-hattery. (I am old and feeble, i can't remember which project was subverted like that)

Re: Not getting expected points [No passkey]
As a fellow folder I think you do raise a valid question around whether the wording of that installer screen could be improved... [I admit it has been a long time since I have used the installer though!]Fadamor wrote:The fact that the installer prompts for the passkey is mitigated by the fact that the installer ALSO notes that the passkey is optional. The actual text is "For added security, you can request a passkey and enter it here." Note it does not say "you must request a passkey and enter it here". It doesn't even go as far as you did and say "you should request a passkey and enter it here".
IIRC there is a desire to keep the installer as streamlined as possible, because too much information can be just as bad as too little info. However, one could argue that maybe it should be modified to something like: 'for added security, and to receive bonus points, you can request...' Maybe 'can' should even be replaced with 'should' or 'are encouraged'...
I can understand what has caused you to be frustrated, hopefully the community support here will resolve your problems.

Re: Not getting expected points [No passkey]
When I processed the old seti@home, they didn't have passkeys. I don't have any up-to-date information, though.JimboPalmer wrote:You asked, in passing, what pass keys prevent. Passkeys in FAH are not needed to prevent that sort of WU fraud. Every WU is uniquely identified. That WU can be returned once and only once. Duplicate submittals are rejected. (And, yes, there are other secuirty measures which were built in to the servers and clients even before passkeys were created.)
The passkey makes your points account unique. Since names are NOT unique, many people fold with duplicate names but the passkey allows you to sort out only those credits which are associated with a unique passkey. This means that the 10 WU minimum and 80% continuing success rate are not based on WUs submitted by someone else using the same name that you are.

Re: Not getting expected points [No passkey]
Sounds complicated. What I currently have is a single computer that contains an Intel 6-core (12 thread) CPU and an nVidia GTX770 graphics board. The F@H client set up a 12-thread SMP slot and a GPU slot. Aren't I already using all my resources? Here's my current runs:bruce wrote:Depending on your hardware and on whatelse might be running on your system, you might want to fold with the CPU slot, too. I count at least nine WU's completed under the current passkey, so the one that finishes in a couple of hours should be #10 (and of course the 8018 WU doesn't HAVE a bonus, so I'm going to have to wait a bit longer)

EDIT: Looks like the bonus points kicked-in. The 00:00Z 3rd party distribution shows 21,326 points from only 2 WU.
