Humm... I might have to clear out my cache and cookies and hopefully, it will work fine. Let's hope that a permanent fix is implemented soon.

I'm not really sure how or why this is now broken again. We have made 0 changes to the forum configuration, I'm not sure if anything has happened to the database yet.

The last time this broke was under similar circumstances and we never worked out why or how to fix it. It magically resolved itself when our hosting account was moved to a new server.

Possibly connected with this reoccurrence of the new post issue, I have been getting "logged out" of the forum at seemingly random times. Sometimes a login will stay active through 45 minutes or more of inactivity, and at other times it happens after less then 15. Just this morning I lost a post that was not accepted and I went immediately to the "You need to be logged in to post" screen. Having just spent about 10 minutes composing it, I usually don't have that happen.

Does this appear to be fixed for anyone else? I wiped the sessions table to fix the issue with the 6.34 beta forum, and for me at least this also seems to have fixed the new posts counter.

Yes, my new posts count went way down afterwards ... logging out and back in reset the count to zero ... looks good so far.

My new posts count did drop. It does look good so far. However, as bollix47 said, might take a few days to confirm if this is permanently fixed or not.

Looks better for me so far. My new post count was increasing by a number much greater than the actual number of new posts and it seems to only have gone up by about the right amount this login. Will watch for a few days to see if this holds.

So far, the View new posts is working perfectly fine (knocks on wood with fingers crossed). Let's hope it stays that way for a very long time :)

I'll second that, but I have noticed one thing- if I "Mark forums read" from the index page the count doesn't go to zero.

It may well be that it's working as intended, but it's not what I expected?

IIRC, when you mark forums read, there will not be any highlighted ones left. The ones in the View New Post will still remain until they "timeout". Once they do, the number of posts will drop.
