Server 171.64.65.98 out of WUs

I am successfully connecting to 171.64.65.98 but not getting a GPU WU.

This has been an on and off problem for about two weeks.

client-tye: advanced set? core_16 is EOL. i'm running core_17 on my 7970 just fine.

Back to problems getting both CPU and GPU WUs. I generally have to go 40 to 70 tries to get a WU to fold.

Once I get a WU everything is fine.

Is there a shortage of WUs?

Again, post your log. Include the beginning section that shows the version of the client, the system information and the folding configuration. There are WU's available and the servers have been supplying them to systems capable of processing them. Since CPU assignments would be coming from different servers than for your GPU, the causes for your problems might be related or not.

Someone gave you bad advice to use beta setting for GPU. You only need the advanced setting to get core 17 WUs. They also should have warned you that unless you are a member of the beta team, we can't assist you until you either remove the beta setting or agree to the rules of the beta team and join up.

Please set your GPU folding slot to advanced instead of beta. There is a known problem with a beta Core_17 that can result in WU's that will not be accepted when finished. Further support for beta folding is only in the Beta forum. From the log sections shown, so far it appears you have not had that issue. But eventually you might. The beta setting may be causing the Assignment Server to connect your system to the wrong server as well.

The latest issue of getting a new GPU WU does appear to coincide with the appearance of problems with that WS. From the log entries that appears to have been corrected as this morning Stanford time.

One additional note, the setting of logging verbosity higher than the default of 3 does not provide any additional useful information in almost all cases. The default setting is recommended also since the higher setting actually makes troubleshooting problems more difficult. Unlike the higher verbosity setting in version 6, with the V7 client it is not useful.

Check the settings for the GPU folding slot. In FAHControl click Configure and then Slots. Unless there was a change to the settings in the log gap, this is what was reported in your log:
