Not getting credit ?

Post by markfw »

OK, under Mark_F_Williams team 198, I should have had 2 bigadv units complete in the last 4 hours, but I only see one. I rebooted the ubuntu box that is missing credit, so I don't have the unit info anymore. Can you track units by name ? I saw in the log file confirmed credit of 245k, but its not showing in my stats.

If you can tell me how to see the old log file, I will update this post.

Are you running v6 or v7? v7 saves many old log files in /var/lib/fahclient/logs/. If I recall correctly v6 saves one old log file in the directory where the client, config, etc. was.

The log file confirms an estimate of points, not the actual points. If you are missing a passkey, or mistyped it, the points will be much lower than the estimate.

The WU was credited with base points only as indicated by our database:
Hi Mark_F_Williams (team 198),
Your WU (P8103 R1 C56 G148) was added to the stats database on 2013-10-02 08:04:53 for 22607 points of credit.
Please verify that the client is configured correctly as 7im mentioned.

It appears you may have made a typo in the passkey when setting up the client. You have a number of passkey entries and one of them has a total of one work unit completed.

Have a look at a recent thread where something similar happened ... it may give you a clue what to look for: viewtopic.php?f=55&t=25011

I sent a PM to bollix47 with what the passkey should have been. Can someone PM me what passkey was sent ? as to why the failure ? So I can fix my setup ?

That would take someone from PG to look that up. The mods can look up a specific passkey given to us or see a summary of WU's returned by a username that just lists the number of WU's that got bonus or did not for different passkeys. The passkeys themselves are hidden in that summary.

I would suggest you check the configuration listed in the client and look for extra characters, missing characters or transposed ones. Or recopy the passkey from the original email or a working setup and paste it into the entry field again.

Well, I copied from an email the first time, I just redid it, but in V7, you can't see what you typed (or copied in my case)

I guess I just have to wait and see if it works this time. 2 more days to wait.......1.46 to be exact

You can open the config.xml file in an editor or browser and it will display your passkey.

Also note: If the passkey on that computer or ussername was set or was changed AFTER the WU was downloaded, the WU will not be eligible for a bonus.

I don't know exactly what method you used to copy/paste but I can tell you that when using Firefox if I just double click on a word and do a right-click copy, the clipboard will include the space following the word and so the paste will include a space which may not have been intended. I'm not sure it always worked that way but if it's something new then that could be leading to the confusion.

I just tried to edit my passkey in FAHControl by substituting a space for one of the alphanumeric characters. FAHControl gave me an error message I hadn't seen before (never mistyped my passkey before). It popped up an error message:
Invalid value
The passkey must be a 32 character hexadecimal string.
Hence another good reason to use FAHControl for data entry, and not edit the config manually. It checks for (some of) your typing and/or pasting mistakes. Caveat Folder.
