PRCG 7085 (0, 891, 9) PPD?

Post by Breach »

Hi,

I'm currently folding PRCG 7085 (0, 891, 9) on 3770K at 4.6Ghz. My PPD is 4278 with TPF 10 min 14 secs.As I'm still new to FAH not sure whether normal or not, but it does seem low to me? Using 7.3.6, CPU is at 100% load (all 8 threads). Also doing GPU folding in parallel.

Code: Select all

both your cpu and gpu are starved for bandwidth. try reducing to smp 6 to free up a core for the gpu. i skipped smp 7 because it is problematic for some work units.

Here's my data from one of my CPUs from HFM.NET:

Min. Time / Frame : 00:09:32 - 12,028.87 PPD
Avg. Time / Frame : 00:09:43 - 11,690.05 PPD

If the system isn't dedicated, I would suggest that you run either SMP:7 or SMP:6. The reason is that any interruptions in the SMP folding, it will increase the TPF in a non-linear manner which will have a negative impact on the system. Also not that it may take sometime for PPD to be correctly calculated by FAHControl/Web Control.

Okay, I switched to 6 CPU threads for good. How long should I wait before rechecking the PPD? Thanks.

Tricky question... I would say 5 frames at least. Can be earlier though

My CPU PPD is still 4923, TPF 8 min 35 sec. Any other ideas?

Check your task manager: What is the amount of CPU being used and by what? It should be running under 100% because you are using 7 out of 8 cores for folding (6 for SMP and 1 for GPU). Is FAHControl using up a full core?

Thanks. In Task Manager FAH Core A4 uses about 95%. Here's the usage from PE:

Re: PRCG 7085 (0, 891, 9) PPD?

I'd say it is running just fine. I don't see anything wrong other than you do not like the PPD you are getting. You can, if you want show the new log and it can be analyzed for a problem. Are you running something else like gaming while it is folding? Are you shutting down the computer or letting it go to sleep?
