XFX Radeon HD 6870 Problems suddenly

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though AMD has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

XFX Radeon HD 6870 Problems suddenly

Post by RealBigSwede »

Suddenly my Radeon HD 6870 failed to fold. The AMD Vision Engine Control Center was updated to , Ver. 2012.1219.1521.27485 and Catalyst Ver. 13.1, Driver Packaging Ver. 9.012-121219a-151592C-ATI. The original was a beta version. and I was told to change that because the folding took 10-17 hours on the GPU and 3-5 days on the CPU, before that it was 2-4 hours and 12-15 hours.
Now the GPU fail to run.
I uninstall all of the Catalyst and all drivers, restarted the computers and then installed the 12.8 still the same problem. uninstalled that and installed the 13.1 and the CPU time is now 4 hours for the CPU and total fail on the GPU.
PLEASE, PLEASE Help me.
Thanks in advanced
PS if you need more info please ask me and I will try to answer you. BTW see my signature for my computer info.

what I did was a total reformat and re-installed win8 and now all is working perfect. Most have been a corrupt file somewhere..

It was the drivers more than likely.
I was messing with them recently and I ran into the errors that you did when we were on IRC.

Atiman uninstaller did the trick and I installed Catalyst 13.2 beta 6.
I think Cat. 13.1 would work better for you, though.
