Complete v6.41 Fermi client for download?

I ran into this before with a newly built system with Fermi video card.

I went to the page at Stanford with all the clients, and download the Fermi console client v6.41 ... and it won't run. It's missing something ... "cudart32_30_14.dll is missing".

Searching online seems to indicate that 6.41 is designed to be used in an "upgrade" situation ... where certain files from older clients are still on the system. This is not true for a newly built system.

What gives? Where does Stanford hide the full Fermi console client?

I mess around googling for the missing files and wind up downloading a "rar" of the missing dll's from a dubious source .... last time I did this, I was lucky ... but now with my new PC build, my client almost but never quite "runs" (or actually fully satrt) correctly. I want to delete it and start fresh ... but with an official "Full" copy of the 6.41 client.

You downloaded the drop in executable, scroll up and look for the version for your operating system, that will install all dependencies, after that drop in the executable overwriting the existing one.

Or, try the v7 beta -> viewforum.php?f=67

OK, so If I want to go with the established console GPU clients for now, I would download the non-Fermi v6.23 for Vista/Win7 ... install it ... then replace the executable with the v6.41 (Fermi) one that I downloaded earlier ?

I just tried what I said just above, and I am still getting message "cudart32_30_14.dll is missing" ...also that "cufft32_30_14.dll " was missing. I added them from my files in my previous attempt's folder ... but I am still getting "Error Starting Folding @Home Core".

This loops and it downloads a new WU ... to no avail ... the loop continues as before with the "Error" starting a new attempt :-(

Did you try the installation guide? It recommends the systray version which is a complete package. Once you've got it running, you can update it easily to the console version if you really like looking at the text window.

But the console install for Fermi has worked for me before ... on other machines. I may have had to add a missing cudart32_30_14.dll ... or so ... but it all worked before :-(

But that's only 2 of the 4, but might be enough for you to make it work.

Another trick is to download the v6.41 .msi installer for the Systray client as mentioned above. However, instead of installing that client, and then converting it to run as a console, simply install, but don't run it. Then copy the .DLL files out of the AppData folder, and in to your console client folder. ;)

I did this. The list of .DLL files it extracted is...

I tried the systray installer and found that it had installed in All Programs ... however not a single .dll is to be found amongst all the files that the installer created .... ???

Neverminde ... found them by clicking "expert mode" :oops:

Copied the .dll's ...

BUT ... I am still getting "Error Starting Folding @Home core"

I am going away for the Easter weekend ... and in a last ditch attempt to have my new machine folding while I was away, I decided to try to install the Fermi Systray client.

Is there some reason you can't run the systray client that you just installed? It may not be your preferred client for the long term but work that out after you get back.

It's possible that Project: 6806 (Run 8000, Clone 2, Gen 15) might be bad WU. Since it won't fold, you could try deleting everything in AppData\Roaming\Folding@home-gpu except client.cfg and the .dll files. Then restart the client.


If you get the exact same WU again and it still doesn't fold, change the machine ID of the client before shutting it down. Then delete the same files again before restarting.


If you do get a different WU and the problem persists, let us know.

No data in the WU Database yet for Project: 6806 (Run 8000, Clone 2, Gen 15) so I have marked it for a follow-up.

If you want the Console Client v6.41, then please do this:
Step 1: Download the [Full] Console 6.31 from here (viewtopic.php?p=158851#p158851).
Step 2: Unzip it in the desired folder.
Step 3: Download the [Drop-in] Console 6.41 from here (viewtopic.php?p=158851#p158851).
Step 4: Replace the 6.31 contents with 6.41
Step 5: Start the GPU Client and it should work fine.

It would seem prudent to have the v6.41 Fermi Console client available as a complete download. How many potential folders are lost when the first thing they download hasn't got a chance of working? A few come here and get help, some go to a team forum to get help, many more just give up.
