Re: Uninstalling 6.34

Thanks so much, P5-133XL. I found the log. I think I've got everything pretty much figured out with this client. I've only installed a new client twice before, and it has been a few years. I'm most grateful for all the help received here. As a researcher myself, I'm so glad to be able to contribute ...

Re: Uninstalling 6.34

Thanks folks. I think I've uninstalled 6.34 and all the shortcuts to it. I must say it goes against all my instincts to uninstall a program merely by deleting its folder! But I see that the V7 client is now listed in my Control Panel>Programs and Features list, whence it can be deleted in the usual ...

Uninstalling 6.34

OK, how do I uninstall v6.34? It was not listed in my Programs and Features list. This on a Win 7 sp 1 Home Premium system. So I went ahead and downloaded/installed v 7.3.6_x86.exe, after first closing v6. I entered the passkey I had for V6. I now have the FAH icon in my notifications tray, and it se...

Re: Questions

Thank you Jesse a 7im for your replies.

I'm glad to hear that version 7 is out of beta, and I will upgrade. I don't spend a lot of time in this forum, and my info was obviously out-dated.

Questions

I have been using the 6.34 client for some years now, averaging about 18,000 ppd, running 24/7. I found it had stopped getting WUs for a few days, and when I attempted to post this problem to the "V6.34Beta SMP2 with passkey [Not Bigadv]" forum I could not access it. I get the following: &...

Re: No Appropriate Work Server Available

artoar_11:

Thanks so much! That fixed it. I see all those files were re-created on opening the client.

I am most grateful for your simple solution. :D

No Appropriate Work Server Available

I've not been able to download any WUs for the last half day, after my SMP Client v. 6.34 has been working well continuously for almost 2 years. All attempts to get work fail. Passkey is found and 8 cores are detected. My last WU was successfully sent yesterday. Closing program and a system re-boot ...

Ditto.

I have a 15 hour WU suceessfully sent 4 hrs ago, but not yet acknowledged by a manual user update.

Re: Stanford Network Issue

You know, I'm sanguine about personal WUs and PPD not being credited. As long as I know the work is being done, and is useful. My client says the work continues to be successfully sent, but Sanford's site says nothing has been received for about the past 36 hours. I hope these 5 or 6 work units have...

Re: Can't connect

Thank you, gwildperson and 7im both for that feedback! I'm glad to say I found the source of my my connection problem with v6.20 client. As you suspected, 7im, it was my NOD32 AV. I upgraded to its new v5.x about a week ago, and had just assumed it would save all my settings. Today I had to drill fa...

Re: Can't connect

Personally, I like the v6.34 client, works well as either CPU or SMP, but it is console version only. I also like the new V7 beta client. 7im: This is a 2005 Dell Dimension 9100 desktop with the following specs: - Number of CPU(s): One Physical Processor / 2 Cores / 2 Logical Processors - CPU Type:...

Re: Can't connect

I could open both those sites in my IE8 browser; both opened to a page that just said "OK". AFAIK all these F@H folders and exe's are excluded from my AV, and included in my FW. In any event, I have disabled both my AV (NOD32 v.5x) and my software FW (Outpost Pro 7.5) and I still get no co...

Thanks 7im: Sorry, I've forgotten how to post a logfile in a scrolling window: ### Launch directory: C:\Documents and Settings\joseph\Application Data\Folding@home-x86 Arguments: -verbosity 9 [18:39:44] - Ask before connecting: No [18:39:44] - User name: joe53 (Team 80856) [18:39:44] - User ID: 14E6...

Can't connect

Using CPU client 6.20 here, with -verbosity 9 flag enabled. It stopped assigning WUs over a day ago. I did all the preliminary checks as instructed. What is up (or down, as the case may be) with this? Thanks. [17:39:27] + Attempting to get work packet [17:39:27] - Will indicate memory of 2046 MB [17...

Re: Need a passkey

Hi, 7im, and thanks for your input. Your explanations were most helpful. I didn't mean to imply any lack of trust in F@H, as I've used the old Classic client for ~ 2 years with no problems. It's not easy dealing with a new computer, a new operating system, and a new console client all at the same ti...
