Re: GPU folding on E-cores

I've tested it a bit more and find that P-cores are actually a bit more efficient for feeding the GPU. I think this is the case, too. I disabled e-cores in BIOS, and there seems to be a small improvement on my RTX4080 folding. Not sure it would be noticeable on a card producing less ppd. But since ...

Re: PCIe bandwidth requirements (RTX 50xx edition)

But for what it's worth to anyone, I also (surprisingly) noticed quite a difference going from x8/x8 pcie 4.0 to x8/x8 pcie 5.0. At least 2-3m PPD on the combined total for both cards. These are trends I've noticed over multiple days. So take it with a grain of salt if you will, but from what I'm s...

Re: PCIe bandwidth requirements (RTX 50xx edition)

Performance is not measured by PPD. Check the time per frame on the same project. I bet the difference will be in seconds I can't speak to anything but PPD because those are the only number trends I remember. But for what it's worth to anyone, I also (surprisingly) noticed quite a difference going ...

Re: PCIe bandwidth requirements (RTX 50xx edition)

Well, I officially tried running a 5070Ti on a 4.0 x4 slot, and it lost about 4-5m ppd. I suspect it has more to do with going through the PCH than the actual pcie lanes, though.

Re: No CUDA or OpenCL 1.2+ support detected for GPU

Ah, the 580 drivers + v7 FAH client do not play nice together for me. The box in question was W11 Pro, though, not W10. In any case, it's a non-issue for me now.

Re: Normal for an Athlon 3000G to not grab any work units?

No, there is some dark magic happening with server constraints. Are you on linux by any chance. That seems to reduce the chance to get any work further with 7 or less threads :/ This particular box is on Windows 11. You say 7 or less threads, so if I got a 5600GT and set it to 8 threads, it might h...

Re: Which config would do better, efficiency-wise: 5090 or a pair of 4080 Supers?

I decided to try out a 5090 on Windows. I set the power level as low as I could, which was 66%, so it runs around 400W. Seems to consistently get WU's, but sometimes the PPD will say 40-45M, where other times it's more like 20-25M, depending on the WU. I guess that's where Linux could come in handy ...

Re: Normal for an Athlon 3000G to not grab any work units?

Well, for whatever reason the 3000G is no longer consistently getting WU's, despite having it set to 3 threads. It's idle more often than not now. If I move to a 5600G/GT and set it to 6 threads, is that likely to make a difference in reliably getting WU's?

Re: No CUDA or OpenCL 1.2+ support detected for GPU

Yes, maybe. I have 580.88 on all my Windows systems and they are all folding fine. :) CaptainHalon> did you reboot after installing the drivers ? It works on the 8.4.9 client, that's not a problem. Are you saying yours folds fine on Windows on 580.88 with the 7.6.21 client? Because that's what wasn...

Re: No CUDA or OpenCL 1.2+ support detected for GPU

I got it working in Windows with the 8.4.9 client. Shame because I liked the standalone app with the 7.6.21, and not having to deal with a web interface. Also, 7.6.21 had a finish option, which seems to be missing in 8.4.9.

No CUDA or OpenCL 1.2+ support detected for GPU

Getting this in the log after going from Nvidia 576.88 to 580.88/93. Rolling back to 576 fixes it, but there are other issues non-folding related that I was hoping newer drivers would fix, so I don't want to be stuck on older drivers just to get folding to work. Anyone else getting this issue with N...

Re: Stoppppppppppppppp adding my iGPU back on every reboot

Use V8 and you won't have that issue. Or better, go to the BIOS and disable that iGPU, which will also free a bit of thermal headroom for your CPU :) Disabling in BIOS is a lot of work. I'd have to haul a monitor and keyboard to that room and hook it up. Seems too much like a Greek Odyssey in my mi...
