Re: 40.114.52.201 & 128.252.203.10 - Stuck, Not Refreshing
I also have had a completed WU since yesterday, still unable to upload to 40.114.52.201. I've rebooted several times. Log excerpt: 11:13:33:WU02:FS01:Starting 11:13:33:WU02:FS01:Running FahCore: "C:\Program Files (x86)\FAHClient/FAHCoreWrapper.exe" C:\Users\rainm\AppData\Roaming\FAHClient\...

Re: Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.4.1 known to crash with FaH
Haha, agreed on all counts. I've been using Linux and BSD at home on the desktop for almost 20 years. I'm not sure if I'm a masochist or just stupid.muziqaz wrote:With Windows 10 privacy nonsense, I would have thought things would turn around, but Linux is still an OS for brave and reckless.

Re: Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.4.1 known to crash with FaH
I'm 'upset' (too strong a term) because I've been trying to troubleshoot issues with AMD's driver for almost a week now, taking up many hours. Since they only posted the known issue with this update, I assumed it was a regression with this version rather than acknowledging a months-old bug. I spent ...

Re: HOWTO: AMD Radeon RX 550 on Debian 10 with rocm driver
Nice! I'm still battling freezes that I think are attributable to the current proprietary AMD OpenCL driver, as they only happen on Linux not Windows (which runs different versions). Just a question: Did you install rocm-dkms or did you opt to use upstream kernel drivers (as outlined in the install ...

Re: Client crashes constantly running GPU load on Radeon VII
I have (currently) the latest at 20.3.1, and it does it stock, overclocked, underclocked, doesn't matter. It did it with older drivers as well as the brand new ones. I even put a new power supply in this thing. Do you mean 20.4.1? The release notes list a blackscreen/freeze bug when running FaH and...

Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.4.1 known to crash with FaH
I almost auto-updated to this on my Windows 10 Pro for Workstations machine. A quick last minute scan of the release notes stopped me just in time: Known Issues Running Folding@Home while also running an application using hardware acceleration of video content can cause a system hang or black screen...

Re: ubuntu 20.04LTS and RX480
It's likely the fahclient will be fine. I haven't tested it yet but generally only the fahcontrol program has broken dependency problems. Work is underway to fix it up to modern libraries. At the moment fahclient results in a fatal error, but of course 20.04 is still in beta. Setting up fahclient (...

Re: ubuntu 20.04LTS and RX480
Good question - though that may be more of a question for AMD and Linux than for Folding at home. Half the fun of linux is the victory at the end after hours or days of pain and suffering. Why would you want to take that away? It's more a question for FaH really. Ubuntu 20.04 changes from 18.04 inc...

Re: HOWTO: How I got my R9 290 folding on Linux
Ah, thanks for the heads up. It worked OK for me but in that case the manual way is better to be safe.Juanro49 wrote:This option installs some additional software instead of just OpenCL support, I tried this option weeks ago and I had problems viewtopic.php?f=81&t=32831

Re: Anyone Folding with a 5700XT on Ubuntu 18
Good luck with Linux and AMD drivers ... I found it quite easy OP, so you should be OK (Threadripper 3960X and Vega 56 on Ubuntu 18.04.4). FWIW you can install the latest proprietary AMDGPU-PRO driver on 19.10 and even 20.04 as well. You just need to temporarily edit /etc/os-release to say '...

Re: GPU not detected
Huh, I tell a lie... Earlier it was finally working, but i just checked again, and it's back to 'Not detected: clGetDeviceIDs() returned -1'. And, yes, fahclient is a member of the video group... See this thread for the fix. Edit: With this method (replacing the systemd service file) you don't need...

Re: HOWTO: How I got my R9 290 folding on Linux
I signed up just to say thank you for this! I primarily run Linux on my desktop/workstation (ThreadRipper 3960X, Vega 56) and ended up running FaH under Windows 10 for Workstations because it just kept failing to find OpenCL on Linux. I pulled out my hair for days, trying the FOSS opencl-icd as well...
