Re: GPU & OSX openGL ?? [OpenCL]
Weird. I recall as Apple being one of the initial contributors behind the OpenCL specification. Maybe it does not suit their needs anymore.

OpenCL state on Linux (open implementation)
OpenCL state on Linux is still not ready for the FAH, but maybe soon:

Re: FAH on PS4 and Xbox 720?
PS4 is supposedly more 3rd party developer friendly:

Do you have valid /etc/fahclient/config.xml file in place?

Re: Intel (R) HD
Protein Viewer should not that different on Intel GPUs than on other ones - it is standard OpenGL. Computing a WU is a much different task as for some unknown reason the Intel OpenCL is not in that good shape. It is strange because Intel has very many developers involved in graphics and the GPU stuff.

Re: Future of F@H: folding speed and protein size
Computing can be fast, but majority of time is being wasted by sending bits between various chips within the system and outside of it. More improvements are needed for interconnections. Maybe it will prove fruitful: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/research/intel-labs-optical-interconnect-in-s...

Re: 2012 slump?
With the new Gromacs 4.6 being OpenCL, I think we will necessarily see a lot more support in that area. It will be interesting to see how AMD does in comparison with Nvidia at that time, especially with the new Radeon HD 8000 series coming out before too long. I think this is an excellent time to n...

Re: 2012 slump?
Active client count should go down with the V7, it is designed to replace numerous installations on the same system. Different thing is with FLOPS. If it does go up or remain the same then we are still okay. Going back to the question I asked earlier: Is the number being reported is the number of c...

Re: Mobility Radeon HD 4200
Anything below Radeon HD5XXX does not make much sense to run the FAH on anymore - the GPU projects for those cards are low or non-existent.
Also, support for these GPUs will end soon.

Re: There are not enough folders
Nothing wrong with joint aims though, Ivo! I upgraded using ebay bits to improve folding 10x and run it as a general purpose PC too. It does this fine. Streams video while 100% cores on SMP and the NV GPU flat out doing just over a minute on 353 pointers. 6-7Kpd on about 300watts or so... Going ove...

Re: There are not enough folders
Friendly advice - never ever build computer(s) for the only purpose of running FAH on it. Down the road you will likely regret that. It basically boils down to the fact that your goals will not align well with the PG goals and only hurt party out of such clash is you. Just run the FAH additionally t...

Re: There are not enough folders
..., but I'd like to think that a person shouldn't be able to zoom up that high in such a short span of time. :| Basically there is not much anyone can do to make one stick to any DC project for a very long time. You either accept the goals what take a long time to develop or you soon move on. That...

Re: There are not enough folders
Summer is not a good time for promoting compute intensive applications, being it FAH or something else. Most of people are off to vacations doing a lot of different things not related to computers. Also, there is hot enough without having computers generate additional heat as well. When people are b...
