Re: iostream stream error: Access is denied.
Web Control still does not work in a normal Chrome window but it does work in an Incognito window. It also works in an Internet Explorer 8 InPrivate window. Any ideas? I don't know if Eset NOD32 is interfering with the Web Control but if that were it why would both browsers work in Incognito and InP...

Re: iostream stream error: Access is denied.
Doesn't seem to work, here's what I get. In case this is relevant, when I had installed FAH and the windows firewall permission prompt came up, I allowed private network but blocked public network communication. I figured I could always change it later if necessary. This is a desktop in a home envir...

Re: iostream stream error: Access is denied.
 thanks, I didn't look thoroughly enough at the Target field and didn't ever think there could be a preceding program. Now to figure out why Web Control doesn't work anymore. I'm even puzzled how to diagnose it, I've tried erasing foldingathome.org cookies, enabling/disabling javascript, Incog...

Re: iostream stream error: Access is denied.
I reinstalled, and now I'm even more puzzled. Apparently the ONLY difference between the settings I had and what I have now is a single shortcut planted in the start menu startup folder; which launches the client without a command prompt window. However the properties of it are identical to the shor...

Re: iostream stream error: Access is denied.
The FAHClient.exe shortcut is what I created so HideConsole.exe is never run. This explains why I get that console and can't close it without stopping all slots from running. Is there a way to integrate that program into the shortcut I created; and how do I? Yes it seems the whole program is incapab...

Re: iostream stream error: Access is denied.
When I'm doing frequent reboots and tests having FAH automatically start at login slows everything down and interferes with EVERYONE's troubleshooting instructions. Microsoft, Eset, anyone with software that I have to ask for troubleshooting help will always tell me to turn off or remove non-essenti...

Re: iostream stream error: Access is denied.
I'm using Windows 7. FAHClient data folder is inside the profile Roaming folder. Maybe my mistake was always chosing Manual/Custom instead of Express install but I wanted to be able to manually start folding so that it doesn't start everytime I reboot. Currently when I launch a shortcut for the clie...

Re: iostream stream error: Access is denied.
I will read the log posting rules and repost in accordance a later. I set verbosity to 4 or 5 because I was trying to troubleshoot what could be wrong. I used custom settings for install but left all values at default except for the "manual startup" and the "screensaver" options ...

iostream stream error: Access is denied.
I don't know what the heck to do to fix this, I just installed this today and I've all day be running into problems that block the web and desktop interface from accessing any slots or even seeing slots. 23:11:24: 23:11:24: <!-- Configuration --> 23:11:24: <config-rotate v='true'/> 23:11:24: <config...

Re: 171.67.108.11 & 171.67.108.21 down
if FahCore_11 is being retired, what will be the replacement for pre-Fermi GPUs like a GTX 295? Completing two GPU WUs per hour sounds acceptably efficient to me. How fast is the average GPU WU completed?

Re: Driver 337.88 and 600 (and earlier) series GPUs
I've always had my screen saver set to blank with a 20 minute time out. I still have only once seen any progress in idle GPU folding and that was only when I was not running Prime95 or CUDALucas or MfaktC. Since I run those 3 other programs all the time, I doubt my system is ever "idle" fo...

Re: Driver 337.88 and 600 (and earlier) series GPUs
I appreciate the detailed explanation, it's very informative and the language is easy to understand, thank you (BTW you say FahCore_11 is the early days but my GPUs are using that core). However I'm still left thinking there is a way to set an acceptable amount of "Politeness". CUDALucas r...

Re: Driver 337.88 and 600 (and earlier) series GPUs
So I've discovered that when I have both GPUs actively folding there is no screen lag regardless of settings but if I have 1 of either cores folding depending on my driver settings I will experience heavy screen lag. I assume this phenomenon is normal? I noticed that a couple of years ago on my GTX...

Re: Driver 337.88 and 600 (and earlier) series GPUs
I know my following questions are about other programs but if anyone has helpful opinions I'd appreciate, I am asking here as it could be related to my other issues I previously posted. I looked at my GTX 295 details in GPU Shark. What confuses me is the details for GPU1 and GPU2 each state and I qu...
