Re: Question about graphics card
Yeah, they ban posting links on new accounts to keep out spammers. I think it's been years since the last time I saw spam here, so it seems to work. The 6450 should run, but it won't be very productive. I'm not sure how well it'll be able to make the deadlines on work units, however, given this: I t...

Re: new base build for folding@home
1. I would point out that the current versions of cores 17 and 18 likely aren't optimized for the Maxwell architecture, which could change in the future. From the reports I've seen, it appears the 980 is only slightly faster at folding than the 970. Since the 980 has roughly 25% more shaders, I woul...

Re: core 0x17 GPU usage
What project? I admit to not having checked GPU usage in a long time, so the only data I have is what's running now, which have been from 9201.

Re: core 0x17 GPU usage
It isn't specific to your card. I just took a look at the usage of my 780s and they're also hovering in the 90% range. I don't fold on my CPU, so it's definitely not due to the GPUs being starved for CPU time. I wouldn't worry about it. It's probably just the cores not being able to scale perfectly ...

Re: Nvidia GeForce 344.11 WHQL drivers
Driver 344.16 is the last, try it? I am running 337.88 on 8x 780Ti and 3x 660Ti. Better PPD. 344.16 only works on the 970 and 980. I would downgrade the machine(s) that have 660 Ti's in them to 327.23, as they're the last drivers to not have the Kepler bug (this bug doesn't affect GK110, so your 78...

Re: Nvidia GeForce 344.11 WHQL drivers
On a pair of 780s, I'm still seeing the 5-10% slowdown I was seeing on previous 34x drivers vs. what I do on 337.88.

Re: Power requirements - GPUs cutting out
I find it hard to believe that your PSU wouldn't be providing enough power. The system as a whole can't be drawing much more than 600W (even that's probably a sizable overestimate), and Cooler Master is hardly some cheap no-name brand. If you wanted to be sure it wasn't a power overload, you could u...

Re: New to folding! Hello!
OCing always helps as long as it's a stable OC. Keep in mind that an OC that's stable in benchmark software or games may not be stable for folding, though 4.0 GHz should be fine. You'd see better results overclocking your GPU vs. your CPU. I think a 4770k will get around 25k PPD at stock, while a 77...

Re: Possible To Fold with GTX Titan and GTX Titan Black (No
In all cases that I've ever seen, an iGPU is disabled when another GPU is plugged into an expansion slot so it wouldn't be available even if a suitable connector was provided on the rear panel. ... so there's at least three reasons to ignore it. I run my monitor off of the iGPU while my 780s fold. ...

Re: Problems with GPU folding, is my card not fast enough?
How far into a WU are you getting that 5 day estimate? The client doesn't provide an accurate estimate in the first couple of percent done because it doesn't have enough data to make a good prediction. If you're seeing such lengthy estimates, say, 10% in, and it's been folding non-stop, then the est...

Re: Can't run FAH after restart
Your experience with your hardware is the best answer for that question. CPU folding is executed at the lowest priority level, so pretty much any other task will take precedence. People normally don't see any lag when CPU folding and doing something else that's CPU-intensive, but it's possible. Try ...

Re: Can't run FAH after restart
It appears you paused the client a few hours before the reboot, and pause normally sticks through a restart. Open up either Web Control or Advanced Control and select Fold/Start Folding to get the slot running again.

Re: Finally got around to pricing new system! cpu and gpu he
Sorry, must have focused on the wrong part of your question. I would not recommend trying to run a CAD program and folding at the same time. GPUs do not share resources very well at all, especially if both processes are rather strenuous. Since there are rarely two GPU-intensive tasks running at the ...

Re: Finally got around to pricing new system! cpu and gpu he
Yes, cards can fold even when they're not driving a monitor. My main desktop has dual 780s, but I normally drive the display using the integrated Intel GPU since I rarely game on it. The cards fold just fine in that configuration.
