Re: CPU temperature
I personally use power profiles to control cpu clock speed during different folding senarios to limit heat.

Re: Any solid reasons for running v6?
I use v6 because it allows me to run multiple clients seperately with the task manager. The desktop shuts down when a smp unit completes. The laptop chages power profiles when the gpu clent is started and stoped, this allows me to control the temps on the cpu.

Re: Change of approach. Current: Economic statistics.
You mention economic statistics but don't apply your reasoning to the economy. By your reasoning I should stop putting my money into my 401k retirement plan and savings account because in a year or whatever they will no longer exist. Without the perceived accumalation of wealth, the world would be i...

Re: Change of approach. Current: Economic statistics.
If you want this, set up your own stats site and get busy. You don't need to change the whole stats system to do this type of tracking.

Re: Bigadv points change
What this change does in my case is it lets me run my computer less. If I have no reason to leave my computer running for 45 hours strait then ultimately less work is being done. I think this change will have greater ramifications for productivity than they are thinking. If Pande wants me to run les...

Re: project:7012 run:1 clone:27 gen:1
I got around the multicore problem by reverting to the 6.34 client. You download a unit in uni mode, then restart it in multi mode before any processing is started.

This unit caused the a5 core to immediately crash several times. I think I downloaded the same unit 3 times.

Re: PPD Question and o\c
I have a 2600k and gtx570, I'd suggest dumping the gpu folding idea and spend your folding bugget on the fastest cpu folding bigadv that you can get.

Re: Is it possible to fold without watt increase?
SpeedStep and Cool'and'Quiet save power by changing the voltage & speed of the processor. Any CPU will use a small amount of power when idle but that number increases as you load up the cpu to %100. For example an idle cpu will use 15-20 watts and a fully loaded one will use 90+ watts.
