details on today's GPU2/CPU update? [v6.23]

Post by eliot1785 »

I noticed that the GPU2 software was just updated to v6.23 today. What are the changes? I am still running 6.20r1 with the special NVIDIA viewer.

Some EUE reporting (backported from the SMP client) and communication timeout fixes.

6.23 GPU2

Post by MoneyGuyBK »

Do we have a new 6.23 GPU2 client replacing the 6.20r ???
What are the advantages and improvements???

I just noticed the change, and did not see another thread about it, sorry if there is one I missed.

I have noticed that with the New GPU projects 5749-5764 I get some EUE's again, and I am wondering if maybe an upgrade to the new client would be in order.
TIA and Happy Thnksgiving.

Peace

Just an observation - was having much difficulty with the 6.20 GPU version on a laptop - fouled cores, locking up, even to the point where it would shut down the computer - downloaded the 6.23 console version - simplest download and setup ever since I've joined. Up to now, running well.
Given sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.

BTW possibly my favorite change has been the shift in measuring progress from frames/second to ns/day. It's more meaningful, at least to me.

The new client seems to run a bit smoother on my computer (which has an nVIDIA card, and I am using the special nVIDIA viewer), which I noticed when using the viewer.

Like others, I am getting a lot more UNSTABLE_MACHINE errors and errors during GuardedRun now than I was previously, though my guess is that has more to do with the core and/or WU's than the client. This is a laptop also running SMP, so it is possible that I could have insufficient voltage issues.

Yes, it's the core, and it's a known issue that is getting a lot of attention.

Cool. Yep, no complaints here, I just haven't been browsing the forums much recently so I thought I'd mention it. Overall I've been quite impressed with the recent GPU2 developments!
