Mac Ms CPU Issue

Hi, I'm running M4 Macbook. I only want to run 1 CPU in the background, however when I do this it won't load new work. Only if I manually change to 2+ CPUS will it find work. It will still crunch when I change back to 1 CPU. Can this be fixed please?

There is a 2 CPU thread minimum on most CPU projects. This is partly to avoid an issue that sometimes arises with clients not correctly configured, and partly to ensure that WUs will finish within the deadlines on some of the lower end processors still supported. It is unlikely to change in the near future.
