Can't connect to my old work...

Post by bobmac1547 »

I started folding a long time ago. I was probably on Windows 7. I'm just not sure.

Well, after several major life changes and new computers, I'm trying to get going again. However, I'm having trouble finding/resuming my old work. I have my team number and old login credentials, but back then, I was actually using a username, not an email addy to log in.

If I can recover my old stats and resume them, that would be great. However, folding is more important than "credits" so I'm also fine with creating a new account and starting over. My wife of 27 years passed away from Alzheimers, so folding is quite important. Her brain was also donated to the OHSU (Oregon Health and Sciences) Brain Bank. I've already done the paperwork and arrangements for my brain to go there as well. While I'm supposed to be part of the control "normal" group, some of my friends question the "normal" part.

I've read the manual that has been linked many times but don't really understand it. I've read about a dozen threads in this forum, but can't find anything that rings a bell.

Can someone point me in the right direction? Please?

Thanks in advance...

Find out if you were using passkey back then. Recover it, then just create a new account for fah client V8, log in, then enter your old username and old passkey in client's account settings

Thanks for that astoundingly fast response! The ink wasn't even dry on my monitor...

Passkeys had not even been "invented" back when I started Folding, so that's out.

Does that mean I have to create a new account?

If you'd like, we can use PM and I can send you the credentials I have.

If you were not using passkey, then just create an account and enter your old username, done and done. There is no magic to this

Accounts are optional.
Don’t make up a passkey.
Use https://apps.foldingathome.org/getpasskey

It is easier to enter user, team, (passkey) and cause prior to creating an account. Settings will auto fill in the account create panel.

Don’t let the browser or password manager make up junk for passkey.

I am also trying to connect to my old work. My userid was danielbailey, but I don't remember what email I used for it.
I tried to create a new account as suggested up above in this thread, but it said that the account already exists and use the login recovery process.

here are my stats from way back when on the extremeoverclocking site:

https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com ... =&u=173147

Anyone able to help with this?

Thanks

Old stuff is not equal to new accounts. You can create a new account with any email you desire, then just enter your username and team number in web UI account section and you will be continuing folding for that team and user.
If in the past you used passkey (not password), that passkey is tied to email that passkey was requested to be generated, so if you don't know what the passkey is and you don't have email saved with it, then you will need old email to request a passkey reminder. That passkey can be again, entered in web UI account section
