Quanta.org -- How AI Revolutionized Protein Science, But Didn't End It

Post by tcphillips »

...a lengthy article describing the use of AI, and particularly DeepMind and AlphaFold(x), to help solve the "protein folding problem."

Particular Qs I have...
1. How do F@H and DeepMind projects overlap?
2. How do they differ?

Short answer : DeepMind, AlphaFold, Rosetta@Home projects predict the possible stable structures for proteins, Folding@Home studies how you get to these structures or how you leaves them for another one.

FAH results are like a movie whereas other project's results are more like pictures.

Greg (director of Folding@home) recently wrote about this a bit on the site's blog: https://foldingathome.org/2024/05/02/al ... ldinghome/
