Folding while computer in standby mode

Post by Jim78418 »

When I'm not using my computer I normally put it in standby mode. I've notice when I wake my computer that the folding computations apparently have continued. For instance today my computer was working on frame 8 of 25 when I executed standby. A few hours later when I woke my computer it was still working on 8 of 25 but the ESTIMATED frames was at 11 of 25.

I'm thinking the computations have progressed to frame 11 but those computations will soon be lost when the "working" frame moves to the next frame. When looking at the log file there is no mention of the estimated frames so maybe since the program could not log it's results it loses what was not written to the log and/or results file.

So the reason I'm writing this thread is to see if there is a way to save this data since it apparently has already been computed?

Hope this makes sense...

No actual work was performed - system components are turned off in Standby Mode, and no software is able to function. The "estimate" was simple incorrect because it saw that time had passed, and assumed progress should have been made.

To fold efficiently, always disable power saving features

It's impossible, as in standby (S1) mode, power is maintained to the CPU, but no actual instructions are sent.
