No credit in the last 24hrs

Post by wpkinsella »

Relatively new folder here, wasn't sure if there was a different subforum to post this.

In short, since yesterday, I haven't received any credit for folding. My setup is a local laptop running CPU + Some Google (GPU) and Oracle Cloud (CPU) instances. There haven't been any issues over the last month, but suddenly, no more credit. All the slots are folding actively and (apparently, visually) successfully. Google Cloud and Oracle Cloud free credits are getting consumed

The lack of credit over the last 24 hours is reflected both in the FAH Web Control as well as on my EOC page. Although it is interesting that these trackers differ slightly from each other, by about 39,000 points. Might reflect a particular moment when credit ceased to be awarded, when one service had updated and another hadn't.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Welcome to the folding support forum.

The difference in points can come from differences in the stats lookup criteria between Web Control and EOC. EOC displays points pulled from reports created every 3 hours, and then displays what has been credited to the username and team combination. Web Control queries the stats database copy for points awarded to the username and passkey combination entered into your client. If you ever returned any WUs without a passkey set, those points do not show up in Web Control's window. Also, if the database copy fails for some reason, you may be seeing results from an older update.

As for points not showing up from recent WUs returned, there have been intermittent problems with the stats logs getting sent from the Work Servers to the stats database. To do further checking, if you provide details on some WUs as to their PRCG numbers and what IP address they were uploaded to, we can follow up with the persons responsible for the servers.

There are also some apps located here - https://apps.foldingathome.org - that you may find useful for checking if a specific WU has been entered into the stats. This link checks a specific WU - https://apps.foldingathome.org/wu, and this one shows the last WU from each system/folding slot - https://apps.foldingathome.org/cpu.

Having now SSH'd into the cloud folding instances, I can see that they are all stalled at the download phase.
My local machine (single CPU) is still folding and was able to download a new WU this morning.
Could be that there is no availability of WUs at the moment? Seems curious but possible.

If by "stalled at the download phase" you mean you saw some percentages of download in the log file and then nothing, it is a known issue (https://github.com/FoldingAtHome/fah-issues/issues/983) where the solution is to reboot the system or the client, whatever is easier.

My machine is happily downloading and processing WUs and, according to the log files, is noting the final estimated credit for each. However, my credit hasn't changed for over a week.

Perhaps @wpkinsella is noting a different problem that prevents the award of credit for completed WUs.

Welcome to the forums @BellyNitpicker ... and both your and the OPs missing points cases are probably linked to the fact that there are a number of servers having stats related issues at the moment ... as long as you are seeing estimated points messages in the logs then at some point (days/weeks/even months) the stats will catch up ... If you post a few of the PRCGs for wus that you have yet to receive points for then it helps in tracking down and resolving these type of issues ... the OP may also have another issue (the stalled download issue previously mentioned)

Thanks for the welcome, Neil.

Here are three from the past couple of days. They're all communicating with the same server.

There is a report thread on the server specific issues forum about this current issue https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php? ... 15#p348497 and looks as if it is still ongoing - and has a fair few example PRCGs ... now it is simply a case of being patient - points will arrive at some point but in can take dys/weeks/even months (in a bad case) - but they do turn up
