Dark theme replacement of the standard F@H web client.

Post by marknd59 »

At LTT folding team we have started a project focused on helping new and veteran folders better understand the PPD performance of their GPUs on different F@H work units with current, real world folding data. We have a Chrome extention dark theme replacement of the standard F@H web client with built in WU PPD benchmarking.

Our goal is to inform folders hardware purchases and configurations to get the maximum protien folding work unit throughput aiding research of todays most pressing medical issues.

So if anyone is interested in helping us out build up the database or you just want a dark theme F@H web client you can checkout what we are doing at -

Looks nice. You might want to link to your LTT forum thread to reassure people that you're not malware :)

If only the webclient could query non-localhosts...

Given that HFM can query remote clients, getting your extension to do the same would be awesome.

I'll pass that on and see what can be done.

What's the point since HFM already do this ?

This extension specifically copies your performance data to a central location to build a database that then tells users of this extension how their hardware is doing against an average. That is useful but the extension is limited by Google to only work on the localhost. At present, there is no single solution that allows a power folder with multiple machines to see how their hardware is doing relative to the same hardware elsewhere.

I just have a Chrome window with the extention open all the time on each of my systems. That way every WU I do gets into the database. The extention has an opption you can set so that it does not go into sleep mode.

I don't like to have unnecessary apps open on the headless systems...

Put an option to remove the rotating arrows. For older dual core PCs, the rotating arrows consume more than 10% performance.
Or, let them rotate one frame every second, instead of the fluid motion.
It's for that reason I used an ad-blocker, to block just those rotating arrows, and gained some performance on my work PCs (which are pretty slow dogs).

We already have that option "Disable Animations"

I don't see that option. I only have
Extension Modes: Disable No Sleep Mode -
on four machines.

Also odd: on three machines, the title of the page shows the name of "my" team, and on one only "FOLDING@HOME", albeit the configuration is the same and I know for a fact that the machine folds for the same team.

But the idea and dark mode are just great!

I'm not sure why you are seeing that. What version is the the extention it should be F@H In The Dark Extension: v1.1.1.

You could go over to the LTT forum thread and get more help. I'm not who is working on this I'm just spreading the word.
