Location may make a bit of difference but appears to be one factor, isp and/or vpn may be another, size of upload appears to be relevant as well … none of them appear at this time from the myriad posts to be the exclusive solution … Individual folders have had some upload and others not … personally I'd put my money (but I am not a betting person) on a combination of size and comms routing/configuration/capacity issues - this might cover both the "dumping" issues and the failing to upload issues currently in play.

I had exactly the same error today:

On my new computer for folding here, this is the first issue I have encountered in a week. I have a high speed wired connection, and no other devices were consuming bandwidth during the upload of the results.

If it's on my end, and there is something I can do to fix it, great. If it is a bad work unit, just wanted to report so the team would be aware. The rest of my units seem to be going fine.

It is a known issue … maybe project or server (or both related) that is being worked on by the team … tbh at this time there isn't anything for us to do or fix … you report will add the to picture of the issue they have

If you take a closer look at what the servers we are uploading to, then you probably notice the pattern.

I'm testing your theory @ToeBlister, current work unit is from MSKCC (which I believe is in NYC), and I'm connected to a NYC VPN server.
My previous WU got dumped again. I'll try to adjust my VPN server to be as close as possible to the collection server.

There are a number of patterns overlapping at the moment … various servers are having issues in various locations … albeit a number are cloud not all issues are … end point location is one part of the equation, with server location another … ISP and connectivity between closely located servers can be as bad as intercontinental links dependant upon configurations … recently had two segments of the same cloud structure only talking to each other by leaving the hosting structures network and coming back in again … I really hope it is one single factor and that you find it - but if it is then chances are that by now the team would have.

as you wish.
I am offering my workaround for the 3.xxx servers I met. So far VPN works for me.
Of cos, your mileage may vary.

I rather offer workaround that works (for me at least), than to go into WOT rehashing "please be patient while the admins work it out". but you do you, and collectively we do science. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

... and fully understand that finding and sharing workarounds is just what this forum and the folders who post here are good at :)

I was simply reflecting that it may not be as simple as just where you VPN to … it may work for some people, for others it may not, and from viewtopic.php?f=61&t=26036 would appear that size of upload might play into the equation as well … now it could be that different routes encounter different rules which could bypass the size issues, and I don't know if this is playing into the OPs troubles, or yours to be honest.

There are numerous threads covering multiple Project and several servers which have similar symptoms and may have some correlation between their causes - "Cloud" has been mentioned quite cryptically in some of the threads implying there may be some comms instabilities or configuration issues there - but again, iirc, some of the servers that have had difficulties aren't "cloud". :?:

The solution to these problems is to let the team get the infrastructure sorted - as such there doesn't seem to be anything "wrong" with the client side of most of the reports at the moment … Workarounds may help in the short term, indeed they may shed light on the various causes that seem to be coming together, and if folders want to use these (be they VPNs, blocking certain servers with firewall, even turning their kit off until things stabilise) that is their choice and their right. :)
