Graphics Card Not Found?

Post by JustCallMeDavey »

Trying to get back into this folding thing as my computer is sitting idle again. I reinstalled FoH, and started folding right away. The problem is that it's all my CPU, my GPU (GTX 1650) isn't found by the application.

Computer Specs: i7-4770K @ 3.50 GHz, 32 GB of RAM, GTX 1650
Network Connection: Gigabit fiber. Direct ethernet connection with no firewall.
Operating System: Windows 10 Home Version: 1909 Build: 18363.778
Overclocked?: No.
Stable?: Yes.
Software: 7.6.9
WU details: N/A

Welcome to the F@H Forum JustCallMeDavey,

Please pause your folding, restart the system and then post the entire log file for us to see what your system is from the client's POV. I am assuming that you have already downloaded the latest GPU drivers from Nvidia.

What happens if you open up FAHControl -> Configure -> Slots Tab -> Add -> Select GPU -> OK -> Save

In theory, you need to add a GPU slot and that's it.

I also noticed that you're not using a passkey which is recommended to use for security reasons and bonus points. You can read more about it here: https://foldingathome.org/support/faq/points/passkey/

.... Look man.. I swear to god I tried like 8 times to add the "slot". (I read it somewhere on the forum.) It's working now.. Sorry for wasting your time. Already got Passkey set up, just waiting for the email. Thanks, man. Please delete the thread. XD

Don't worry, I believe you... it is just like when the IT person comes over, the issue has magically resolved itself and I end up being speechless. I am glad that the GPU is behaving itself and will start to fold soon :)

Its not you. I had exactly the same phenomenon, didnt even need to reboot, it simply worked after a client restart. Whatever it is, its weird and not you.

Welcome to the F@H Forum Lajiola,

I would suggest that you:
Manually download the GPUs.txt file from here: https://apps.foldingathome.org/GPUs.txt (right-click save as GPUs.txt)
Exit the client
Copy the GPUs.txt file from the Downloads folder to %AppData%\FAHClient
Reboot your system
Start up the client and ensure that you can see your GPU in the log file
Add a GPU slot from FAHControl -> Configure -> Slots tab -> Add -> GPU -> OK -> Save

Let us know if that works or not :)
