Installing update issues

Post by Suur »

I had been running an older version for a while and wanted to update to the newest. I ran the installer for the latest version, expecting it to have a function to remove the previous installation (which it did seem to have) but I was met with an error saying files it was trying to edit were still in use. So I uninstalled the old version through windows, and tried running it again, and got the same error. I checked the install folder, and most of the files are still there, I can even start the program! Attempting to manually delete this folder (not always a good idea, I know) just tells me some files are in use.

After leaving my PC off overnight and trying again now, when the installer says "shutting down any running FAHControl", I get an error ending in "DLL load failed: The specified procedure could not be found." with a few files listed above it.
And hitting OK and letting it run further gets me the error about files being in use.
I would post images but I'm not able to as a new user.

Can anyone offer a solution?

1) Open Windows taskmanager and remove running processes FAHclient.exe
2) Then run Windows Software uninstall for FAH => Now no running processes should disturb
3) Install FAH again

I tried this before and just tried again. Closed it from task manager, and then tried to uninstall, but it wasn't listed as a program that I could uninstall at all, both through the newer win10 settings and the old control panel way. Tried running the installer anyway but I still got the same errors.
