I'm having to make firewall exceptions and I guess I can keep fixing as it goes, but I was wondering if anyone has a list of domains that the client needs to communicate with.
So far I have:
*.foldingathome.org
*.mskcc.org
I identified the second one yesterday when my client was failing to download work from a particular IP, which I backed into that domain. Things are pretty well locked down so this has been necessary (Sophos XG).
Thanks!

You can look at the Server Status page, link at the top of the forum or at apps.foldingathome.org.
Or just allow the FAHClient process to access through the firewall using the same privileges as a web browser using ports 8080 and/or 80 and with HTTP or HTTPS.

The client only use DNS to connect to the Assignment Servers. It will the directly connect to the Work Server IPs listed on this page : https://apps.foldingathome.org/serverstats
It is better to allow connection in your firewall based on the software executable or the ports, since servers may come in and go away from the project without notice.
