Hi
I have a quad core CPU and a GTX 1060 6GB GPU.
When I set FAH to fold "light" it runs the CPU up to about 50% and does not use the GPU.
When I set it to "medium" it runs the CPU to 100%, then uses the GPU.
I don't want to the CPU pegged at 100%, but I want to use the GPU as well. Is there a way to use the GPU in "light" mode?
Thanks
David

Yes I will explain Windows, as I do not have Mac or Linux, and you gave us no clues at all.
In the lower right of the screen you may have the F@H molecule icon. You may have it hidden so that you have to click an Up Arrow first.
Once you find it, click on it and the second choice will be Advanced Control. Choose that.
Now to the left is a icon called Configure, click it
Now you look for Slots, and click it.
You may have two slots, one cpu and one gpu. click the cpu and press the remove icon.
Now you can X out of Advanced control, your CPU usage should go down to about 25%.

Yes. but there are buttons to pause it if you need to. (you lose a percent or two when you pause)Hominid wrote:I assume the "while im working" setting will run 24/7, idle or not?

You may want to be sure you disabled sleep in Windows.
I do not know Win 8, but get in the control panel and search for power settings, you do not want to sleep.

I use the server for other tasks, security cams, ect. It never sleeps, but the GPU I have is way overkill for my needs. Just allocating it for this.

If you have a laptop, cooling system limitations may not like 100% CPU utilization -- or the fan may fail before the rest of the computer is ready to be retired.
If you have a desktop/desk-side computer it's likely to have better airflow and it should be happy to run at 100%. Priority settings are set so that foreground activities get processed before Folding.
