This project aims to understand the folding mechanisms of a fast-folding variant of the bacteriophage lambda-repressor. The lambda-repressor is responsible for the life-cycle of phage lambda by inhibiting transcription of the cro gene and simultaneously activating the cl gene. Detailed knowledge of the folding mechanism and intermediates of the lambda-repressor will aid in the understanding of the lysogenic cycle as well as the general mechanisms of protein folding.
