Memory Issues, Is it safety to run fah?

Post by Marcsello »

I have 2gb ram in my main, pc in 2x1gb modules, and one of the modules broken (have read/write issues, on 1 or 2 address)
Is it safety to run fah on my pc, or it will possibly generate bad results?
Situation is not very bad, I only got it crash because of that 1 or 2 times in 4 years (since I bought the first 1gb module)
(I tried to run it on GPU too, but it's don't wanna work for me)

Welcome to foldingforum.org, Marcsello.

It might generate bad results, it might report errors and dump the WU, or it might work fine, depending on where the bad addresses are and where FAH loads. I'd replace the memory.

Well, that case I'm not dare to run it,
My PC is very old (about 11yrs) and Memory replacement dosen't worth it.

I rather run it on my Raspberry Pi (wif QEMU) even if it generates only 1 point :P

I don't think FAH will run on Pi, Qemu or not. Even if it does run, 1ppd will be about it. Check the postings on the Pi forum.

I've already checked, and I found that it wont run native, but nothing about the qemu mentioned, so I decided to investigate out :)
