Hmmm. Consider the economic implications.

If GDF11 turns out to have miraculous properties and no negative side effects, then that will be a gold-mine for whoever can synthesize it. If it can't, then there will be a real market for core/placental blood.

It seems like this was part of the plot for a science fiction story a few years back.
