1-What is the right way to shutdown a client, keeping in mind the possibility of restarting it later?
2-When entering a passkey, this step MUST be done when the client is first configured/installed? What happens if the passkey is introduced after the client is configured?
You can pause the client and unpause by simply moving the power slider to off (Web control) or use the systray icon and turn off the client from there. To restart simply move the power slider back to where it came from.
You can add a passkey after the install by running the advanced control (Accessible from the systray icon) click configure and go to the identity tab. It won't effect the current WU's but will start with new WU's. Don't forget, Passkeys need to be qualified by turning in 10 QRB (Quick return Bonus) WU's and you need to maintain at least an 80% successful return rate to get QRB bonus points.

I'd add that it depends how much later is "later"… if it's going to be some days there's the possibility of going over the WU's expiration date and losing all the points (as well as slowing down the science), in which case "Finish" (and "Fold" to re-start) would be more appropriate.
What do you need to know other than you need to successfully complete and return at least 8 out of every 10 WU's that you download to perpetuity. Everything counts and that means if you do not return the WU by the final deadline then that is a failure; if you overclock and it causes an error then that counts; If you dump a WU that counts. the reason for the failure doesn't matter. If at any point your return rate drops below 80% you will stop getting the quick return bonus points till you successfully return enough WU's to get it back above 80% again.
Do note that you will always get the base points for the successful return by the final deadline, but QRB is often 6x+ the base points (depending upon the capabilities of your processor/GPU) so you do not wish to drop below 80%.
