how do I know what team, etc.?

Norman Newguy here!! I downloaded and installed fahclient_7.3.6_amd64.deb on my box, and "top" shows me that "5212 fahclien 39 19 46304 13m 2760 S 99.6 0.4 16:40.32 FahCore_a4" .... fahclient seems to be chugging right along. I don't have any problem with that except that it launched immediately without any input from me, and I don't see a launcher, nor can I find the command FahCore_a4.
Next question, when I initially filled out the little profile, all I entered was my username because I had no idea which team I should try to join. So, how do I choose a team, or does a team choose me?
Where do I find information regarding units I might have completed, etc?

You chose the team. You can add a team number using the fahcontrol app. See also the Linux install guide on the fah web site.

You can turn the auto start off by moving the slider all the way to the left. You can join any team you wish just visit there forums and then decide which team you wish to join. You can find your folding info at this link http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_list.php?s= just type your folding name in the search box and any WU's should be listed it may take a day or two when you first start for them to show up.

A link to the official stats is available at the top of every forum page. Folding for a team is not required, but if you find a group of like-minded people you can join an existing team or create your own.

Don't worry about the FahCore stuff. Those are the small pieces of software that do the actual calculations behind the scenes. You most likely don't need to mess with them at all. Web Control should be all you need to control the F@h software at a high level.

As a side note, I would recommend htop over top. You may find it more visually pleasing.

Not required you enter a user name or join a team unless you want to. Plenty of people fold as 'anonumus' (sp) or as team 0. But if you do want to join a team try and find one that you have something going with equal interests. If your interested in a sport, I'm sure there is a team that relates to that sport or even a specific team. Many teams are into computers so if that's what your interested in look at their web sites and pick one that grabs you. I've got a year on you so I guess that makes me a sophomore. But the thing is no matter whether you decide to join a team or not. Help for most if not all problems is available right here on the forum.

You didn't say which version of Linux you were using but I use Ubuntu and to monitor what my computer is doing I click on the Applications button and type in the letter 'f' and if you've installed the FAHControl program available you can then start it and monitor your folding. Also if you'd add something about what kind, how fast, and other information about your computer I'm sure we can get you started in whatever direction you want to go.
