Stats Not Updating?

Post by YugimonGX »

Hello, I need help with a question I did not seem to be able to find an answer to. To start, I have folded for Platform Racing 2 a very long time ago. After I found out what F@H actually does, I knew I wanted to continue using it. Since then I got a new computer and wanted to continue folding under the same name. I feel as though it worked because I see my old profile, however now, I do not see stat updates. It has been at least 3-4 weeks without one update. I would like to know what I am earning for my team. If anyone has a suggestion or help please comment on the topic.
Thanks,
Shawn

Welcome to the folding@home support forum Shawn.

If your folding name is the same as your forum name there have been no returns in a very long time.

Before we can even begin to guess what is going on we will need to see the contents of your log. For v7 the log is called log.txt and is in the FAHClient Data Directory. For v6 the log is called FAHlog.txt. After you copy/paste the contents of the appropriate one in a post here we should be able to help.

As you can see from the log both your slots are described as PAUSED (waiting for idle) ... i.e. they will not start until the computer is idle. If you open up Advanced Control (FAHControl) you will notice a slider above the log. Try moving it to Full so that the folding slots start processing. You can also access the slider using WEBControl or by right-clicking on the FAH icon in the taskbar and selecting Full. If your computer becomes sluggish you can change it to Medium but your GPU will not process it's slot until the computer becomes idle. Works similar to a screen saver.

Also, since you're using XP, make sure you have .net and c++ redistributable installed as described in the requirements section.

It would be a good idea for you to get a passkey so that you can earn the Quick Return Bonus when you've completed the qualifications.

You may find that running both the CPU and the GPU is too much for your notebook at which point you can remove one of the slots. This may involve some experimentation on your part to determine which one produces the most work.

Thanks, but its only idle for the moment. I slowed it down to play Steam Games.. I was earning points and working on WU's all day and I saw the percentage. I think the points are being added, but the page isn't updating if that's possible.(?) thanks again for your reply.

Okay, just remember that you don't receive any points until the work unit is 100% complete and successfully returned. I see no evidence in your stats that you've actually returned a work unit.

Ahh, gotcha. Thanks. I saw many points and percent but I wasn't looking at the actual work unit. Sorry, it's been awhile. How long does a work unit normally ask if you don't mind answering.

Work units take varying amounts of time based on the project and the resources being used to process them. Some may only take a few hours while others can take days. FAHControl does show an ETA or you can look at the log and determine the ETA based on the time between percentages times 100.

Once you've determined how long a work unit is going to take you can look up the project in the Project Summary and determine if you're going to make the deadlines. If you're not going to make the preferred deadline you will not receive bonus points and if you're not going to make the final deadline you won't receive any points. Any slot that doesn't make the preferred deadline on a regular basis should be removed so as not to slow down the project. There are uniprocessor projects that have a longer deadline which you can get by changing the number of CPUs to 1.

Thanks for all of your help, I see them. I still have a few more hours and one has 9 days. I didn't know all of this. Thanks!
